Trusted bath re-enamelling in Bennett End

Bath re-enamelling in Bennett End, done in place

We clean, repair and prime the bath before spraying the new finish. The preparation is what makes it last, and we take our time over it. We are often asked to fix staining under the taps and around the waste and thin, worn enamel in places, on Victorian roll-tops, pressed steel baths and cast iron baths.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee.

Bennett End questions

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Generally, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. If it isn’t worth repairing, we will tell you.

How much does bath re-enamelling cost in Bennett End?

Resurfacing from £350. We give a fixed quote based on pictures of the damage. Send a close-up and a picture of the entire item and your postcode.

Do you resurface freestanding baths?

Yes, roll-tops are a big part of our work. We resurface the inside, and the outside can be refinished too.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes, and it’s frequently cheaper. Send pictures of everything together and you’ll get one combined price.

Do you do work for letting agents?

We do, regularly. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

We are happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Just make sure the landlord agrees.

Someone resurfaced my bath and it’s peeling. Can you help?

Yes. Removing the old finish takes extra time, which we include in the price.

Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?

Most of the time. Tell us what was done before and we will plan for it.

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £350. Prices are worked out job by job, from your pictures. What matters most is:

  • What the surface is made of
  • Access to the area
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out

A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send photos and you will get a fixed figure.

Send photos for a quote

When you take your pictures, these tips help us give you a firm price:

  • A picture taken from further back
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • Natural light rather than flash

Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us photos through the quote form. With one close-up and one wider picture, we can price the job the same day in most cases.

Looking after it afterwards

A little care keeps the finish looking good. We recommend:

  • Avoid suction-cup mats
  • Store bottles off the bath
  • Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it
  • Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas

The first few days matter most: let it cure fully, then use mild cleaners only. After that, no abrasives and no suction mats.

Rust spots on a worn bath get worse with time and make the job bigger. Resurfacing before they spread keeps it simpler.

What we are called out for in Bennett End

The gloss on enamel is thin, and every scrub with an abrasive cleaner takes a little away. After years of use, the surface becomes porous and stains easily.

The things clients normally mention when they call are:

  • A coating lifting around the plughole
  • Several chips and rust patches
  • Stains that won’t shift
  • A bath in a colour that no longer suits

What your quote should include

  • How the colour is matched
  • What happens if the damage is worse than the photos show
  • Whether the price covers travel
  • Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price

Choosing a repair company

What a repair can’t fix

Some jobs are not right for a repair, for example:

  • Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)
  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot
  • A cast iron or steel bath that’s cracked right through

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think before booking.

Materials we repair

  • Acrylic baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Cast iron baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Pressed steel baths

Should I try a DIY kit first?

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair won’t last.

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.

Should you replace it?

If the bath is sound, re-enamelling is typically much cheaper than replacing it, once you add removal, plumbing, tiling and decorating to the price of a new bath. It’s also far quicker. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. We don’t add extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Why Bennett End clients choose us

  • Colour mixed on the day to match
  • CHAS and Constructionline accredited
  • We’ll tell you if it’s not worth repairing
  • Generally one visit, start to finish

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that is the part we put right.

How it works

Here’s how a visit typically runs: we arrive on time, sheet and mask the area around the job, do the job and clear up. Allow the best part of a day from start to finish. Before we go, we will explain when it can be used and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure until the following day.

Before we arrive

  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
