Bath re-enamelling in Blendworth

DIY kit or professional repair?

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair won’t last.

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.

Bath re-enamelling at your home in Blendworth

Resurfacing renews the entire surface of the bath without a refit. It’s the answer when the whole bath is tired rather than one spot. Our technicians work on acrylic baths, cast iron baths and basins & shower trays, and common reasons people contact us are staining under the taps and around the waste and worn patches where water runs and sits.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you’re covered after the visit.

Repair or replace: which is better?

Replacing a cast iron bath is a big job: they’re heavy, frequently need breaking up, and a new one is not cheap. Re-enamelling avoids all of it. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Compared with replacing, repairing normally costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

Repairs by material

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it relies on good support. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that is what we repair.

Looking after it afterwards

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Get any chip repaired quickly
  • Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it
  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
  • Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs right away

Wipe the bath dry after use where you can, especially in hard water areas, and rinse away any product left on the surface.

Do not try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It removes more of the surface.

Signs you need bath re-enamelling in Blendworth

Enamel’s shine is only skin deep, and abrasive cleaning slowly wears it away. After years of use, the surface becomes porous and stains easily.

You may need us if you’ve spotted any of these:

  • A coloured bath you want in white
  • Thin, worn enamel in places
  • Chips and rust in more than one place
  • An original cast iron bath that needs restoring

What to look for in a quote

  • How soon you can use it again
  • Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price
  • How the colour is matched
  • Who turns up on the day

Our hiring checklist

What a repair cannot fix

A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:

  • Leaks from fittings rather than the bath
  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it
  • A cast iron or steel bath that’s cracked right through

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think.

Surfaces we repair

  • Basins & shower trays
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Cast iron baths
  • Acrylic baths

What we do, step by step

When we visit, the technician arrives at the agreed time, protects the room with dust sheets and masking and gets started. The job typically takes the best part of a day. We tidy up before we leave and let you know when you can use it again.

  1. We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
  2. Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
  3. The bath is degreased, repaired and keyed.
  4. We apply the primer and then the finish coats.
  5. We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.

Preparing for the visit

  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Clear the area around the damage

How to get a price
