Bath re-enamelling in Blidworth

What bath re-enamelling costs

Prices start from £350. We charge the same across the UK, including Blidworth. What changes the price is:

  • The colour and finish to match
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • What the surface is made of
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear

Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Blidworth. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

How to get a fixed price

Two or three clear pictures are generally enough. It helps if you send:

  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • What it’s made of, if you know

If you’re in Blidworth and want a price, pictures are the quickest way: a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode. You’ll get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.

How we handle bath re-enamelling in Blidworth

We re-enamel plenty of period and roll-top baths, which are heavy, hard to move and costly to replace. Doing them in place keeps an original feature. If you are dealing with a coloured bath you want in white and wear marks under the taps, we can help.

You are covered for a year from the day of the repair. Just call us if there is a problem and we’ll come back.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it will not stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, and the work is guaranteed.

Looking after it afterwards

Looking after the surface is easy:

  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
  • Store bottles off the bath
  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
  • Keep suction mats out of the bath

Use mild, non-abrasive cleaners, do not use suction bath mats, and keep bottles and razors off the surface.

If a previous coating is starting to peel, do not pick at it. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so it’s better to have it stripped and redone.

Blidworth: your questions answered

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit. Everywhere else in the home is fine.

Someone resurfaced my bath and it’s peeling. Can you help?

Normally, yes. The old coating comes off before we resurface it. Tell us about it when you ask for a quote.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Generally, yes. We remove the old repair before doing a new one.

Do you work in Blidworth?

Yes. We work across the UK and travel to Blidworth and the rest of Nottinghamshire. Send photos and we will quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Do I have to be there?

We need someone to let us in. After that, you can carry on with your day.

Do you charge for travel?

There’s no separate call-out charge. Your fixed quote includes everything.

What areas do you cover?

We work UK-wide, and that includes Blidworth. Prices don’t change with location.

How long does re-enamelling last?

That depends on preparation and how the bath is treated. Properly prepared and looked after, it lasts well, and it’s guaranteed for a year.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Cast iron

Re-enamelling suits cast iron baths perfectly. The body lasts for generations; only the enamel wears, so resurfacing gives them a new life.

What we cannot put right

It helps to know what we cannot do:

  • Holes rusted through the metal
  • A bath split right through the body
  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think.

Surfaces we repair

  • Pressed steel baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Acrylic baths
  • Cast iron baths

What we’re called out for in Blidworth

Previous coatings can fail too, lifting by the plughole or blistering. Failing coatings are stripped back before we resurface.

It’s worth getting a quote if you see:

  • A dull, rough surface that will not come clean
  • Worn patches where water runs and sits
  • A coating lifting around the plughole
  • Staining under the taps and around the waste

Repair or replace: which is better?

There are times replacing is better: if the bath is cracked through, if you want a different size or shape, or if you are refitting the whole room anyway. Otherwise, resurfacing generally wins. Prices start from £350. A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send photos and you will get a fixed figure.

How the visit works

Once we’re through the door, we keep the work contained to the one room. Surfaces nearby are masked off, the work takes most of the day, depending on what we find, and we finish with a tidy-up and a look at the finished work together.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure until the following day.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
