Bath re-enamelling in Breeds, done in place
Re-enamelling works especially well on cast iron and steel, and acrylic baths can be resurfaced too. You end up with a smooth, glossy surface. Our technicians work on cast iron baths, basins & shower trays and Victorian roll-tops, and people most frequently call us about an original cast iron bath that needs restoring and an old resurfacing that’s failing.
A one-year guarantee comes as standard.

Keeping it looking good
Aftercare is simple, and it makes a real difference:
- Do not let dyes or oils sit on the finish
- Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
- Do not leave bottles, razors or sponges standing on the surface
- Keep suction mats out of the bath
Wait for the curing time we give you before the first bath. Then, gentle cleaning with a soft cloth is enough.
Worn enamel only gets rougher with time, and any rust spreads underneath. Resurfacing sooner means less repair work first.
The process
We work cleanly and quietly, so you can carry on at home. Protection goes down first, then the job itself takes most of the day. At the end we talk you through how soon it can be used and how to look after it.
- We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
- Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
- We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
- The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
- The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure.
Before we arrive
- Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
- Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
- Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible

Related advice
DIY kit or professional repair?
It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is usually the cheaper route.
DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair will not last.
Should you replace it?
Replacing the bath means a plumber, removing a heavy bath, making good the walls and tiles and several days without a working bathroom. Resurfacing renews the whole surface without moving it. Prices start from £350. A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send pictures and you will get a fixed figure.

What your bath is made of matters
Acrylic
Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it needs firm support underneath. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.
Pressed steel
Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.
Your questions about bath re-enamelling in Breeds
How do I book?
Some photos, your postcode and how to reach you. On the day, we only need access to the room.
How do I get a price for bath re-enamelling in Breeds?
Resurfacing from £350. The exact price depends on the damage, so we quote from pictures. You know the full cost before anything is booked.
Do you do work for letting agents?
We do, regularly. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.
Is repairing better than replacing?
Usually, when the rest is in good condition. A repair avoids removal and making good. We will tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.
Does the bath have to be removed?
Not at all. We work on the bath in place, with the room masked and ventilated.
Is it safe with children and pets around?
Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit and until it has cured. Everywhere else in the home is fine.
Can a failed resurfacing be redone?
In most cases. The old coating comes off before we resurface it. Mention it when you send photos.
Is there any odour?
There can be some smell while we work. It fades as everything cures.
What we cannot put right
In fairness, some problems need a different fix:
- A metal bath with a through crack
- Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
- Leaks from fittings rather than the bath
Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer.

What bath re-enamelling costs
Prices start from £350. Prices are worked out job by job. The main factors are:
- Any earlier repairs that need removing first
- What kind of damage it is
- Access to the area
- What the surface is made of
Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.
Quotes from your photos
You can generally get a fixed price without us visiting. To help us price it:
- A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
- The postcode, so we can plan the visit
- Details of any past repairs
- Any details about the material
Most customers in Breeds get their price from pictures. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we will send back a fixed quote and some dates.
