Bridge End questions
Is a repair better than a new one?
Typically, if the item is otherwise sound. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. We will tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.
Is it safe with children and pets around?
Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit and until it has cured. Everywhere else in the home is fine.
Will there be a smell?
There can be some smell while we work, which is why we ventilate. It fades as everything cures.
Does re-enamelling smell?
Yes, while we’re applying the finish. We set up ventilation and the smell fades as it cures.
Do you hold any accreditations?
We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.
Are there extra charges for Bridge End?
No. Our quotes include travel, and we charge the same wherever you are.
Which areas do you work in?
Across the UK. Our prices are the same everywhere.
Do you resurface freestanding baths?
Yes, often. The inside is resurfaced, and we can refinish the outside as well.
Landlord and trade work in Bridge End
We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Just send pictures, the address and how to get access.
Rental properties take more wear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.
Looking after it afterwards
After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:
- Wash away dyes and oils after use
- Fix dripping taps quickly
- Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
- Store bottles off the bath
The first few days matter most: let it cure fully, then use mild cleaners only. After that, no abrasives and no suction mats.
Do not try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It just wears the enamel further.
Should you replace it?
Replacement only makes sense in a few cases: if the bath is cracked through, if you want a different size or shape, or if you are refitting the entire room anyway. In most other cases, resurfacing is the better choice. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed quote from your pictures, so you know the cost before you book.

What we can’t put right
It helps to know what we cannot do:
- Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it
- Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber
- Acrylic that moves when you stand in it
Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly before you book.
Materials we repair
- Pressed steel baths
- Basins & shower trays
- Cast iron baths
- Victorian roll-tops
- Acrylic baths
Different materials, different repairs
Pressed steel
Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.
Roll-top and period baths
We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.
Should I try a DIY kit first?
If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.
If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

The process
We turn up at the time we agreed with you and checks the damage against your photos first. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before any work starts. Most visits take most of the day, and the room is left clean and tidy.
- We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
- We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
- We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
- The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
- Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures.
