Bath re-enamelling for Burbage homes

Bath re-enamelling at your home in Burbage

We clean, repair and prime the bath before spraying the new finish. Most of the work, and most of the durability, is in the preparation, and we take our time over it. Common call-outs are for an old resurfacing that’s failing and a period or roll-top bath worth keeping, in pressed steel baths, basins & shower trays and cast iron baths.

Big or small, it’s backed by a one-year guarantee in Burbage and across Leicestershire.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that is the part we put right.

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

Why repair rather than replace?

Replacing a cast iron bath is a big job: they’re heavy, frequently need breaking up, and a new one isn’t cheap. Re-enamelling avoids all of it. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Burbage. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Why book with us

  • Colour mixed on the day to match
  • Most jobs done in one visit
  • Accredited with CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor
  • Everything repaired in place

Read our prices page or guide to resurfacing and replacement costs.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it will not stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

When a repair isn’t the answer

We would rather lose a job than do one that won’t last, so these are the limits:

  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it
  • Acrylic that moves when you stand in it
  • A bath that is rusted through

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly.

Materials we repair

  • Basins & shower trays
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Cast iron baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Pressed steel baths

What we do, step by step

It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, protect the area, and get on with the job, which normally takes the best part of a day. If we find something your pictures didn’t show, we’ll explain it before carrying on.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures.

How to prepare

  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area

When to call us in Burbage

Sometimes it’s an earlier resurfacing that has failed, lifting by the plughole or blistering. Failing coatings are stripped back before we resurface.

These are the problems we are asked about most:

  • An old resurfacing that’s failing
  • A roll-top that’s seen better days
  • Brown or grey marks that don’t clean off
  • Wear marks under the taps

Aftercare tips

Simple care helps the repair last. We recommend:

  • Store bottles off the bath
  • Repair dripping taps early
  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
  • Wash away dyes and oils after use

Wipe the bath dry after use where you can, and rinse off any bath products.

Worn enamel only gets rougher with time, and any rust spreads underneath. Acting earlier keeps the preparation simpler.
