Bath re-enamelling at your home in Burgh Castle

We resurface cast iron, steel and acrylic baths, including roll-tops and period baths. Several coats of finish go on over a bonding primer, after the bath has been cleaned, repaired and keyed. We are often asked to fix a bath in a colour that no longer suits and an old resurfacing that’s failing, on Victorian roll-tops, acrylic baths and cast iron baths.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you’re covered after the visit.

What bath re-enamelling costs

Resurfacing from £350. We do not charge extra for travel to Burgh Castle. The price comes down to:

  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • The colour and finish to match
  • How much damage there is

No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Send photos for a quote

When you take your pictures, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • The material, if you know it
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • Details of any past repairs
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale

You do not need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.

Repair or replace in Burgh Castle?

Getting a cast iron bath out is hard work: they’re heavy, frequently need breaking up, and a new one isn’t cheap. Resurfacing in place avoids that entirely. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Burgh Castle. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Why Burgh Castle customers choose us

  • Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface
  • Fixed prices from your photos
  • One-year guarantee on every repair
  • One visit for most repairs

What happens on the day

On the day itself, there’s little for you to do. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we’ll take it from there. The job generally runs to a full day, including clearing up.

  1. We mask and protect the room and ventilate it.
  2. We clean and degrease the bath and repair any chips or rust.
  3. The surface is prepared and a bonding primer applied.
  4. We spray several coats of new enamel finish.
  5. The bath is left to cure and can usually be used the day after.

Preparing for the visit

  • Make sure the area is dry
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Have a window or extractor fan available

How to get a price

Pricing is simple: take a close-up of the damage and a picture from further back, send them to us with your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote. There is no charge for the quote and no obligation.

Burgh Castle questions

How long does re-enamelling take?

Most baths are done in a day, ready the following day. We will confirm timings when we quote.

What areas do you cover?

We work UK-wide, and that includes Burgh Castle. Our prices are the same everywhere.

What happens once I’ve sent photos?

You get a fixed price and available dates. If we need another angle, we’ll ask.

Can tenants book a repair?

Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Landlords are often glad to have it sorted before the end of a tenancy.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Of course, and it normally saves money. Just add the extra items to your pictures and we’ll quote them together.

Do I have to be there?

We need someone to let us in. After that, you can carry on with your day.

Can you resurface a pink bath in white?

Yes. We can resurface a coloured bath in white, and the basin and toilet can be done too.

Does re-enamelling smell?

Yes, while we’re applying the finish. We set up ventilation and the smell fades as it cures.

Honest limits

It helps to know what we cannot do too:

  • A metal bath with a through crack
  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up
  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think.

Surfaces we repair

  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Cast iron baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Acrylic baths

Keeping it looking good

How the surface is treated afterwards matters. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Have chips seen to early
  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
  • Don’t use the bath until it has fully cured
  • Don’t let dyes or oils sit on the finish

Give the finish its full curing time before using the bath. After that, a soft cloth and washing-up liquid is all it needs.

The longer worn enamel is left, the rougher it gets, and rust spots spread under the surface. Resurfacing sooner means less repair work first.

Can I fix it myself?

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it does not stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

Different materials, different repairs

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it needs firm support underneath. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Work for landlords and builders

Builders use us to fix snagging damage before handover. Several plots can be done in one visit.

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Send the address, photos and access details.
