About our bath re-enamelling in Cadishead

Resurfacing renews the whole surface of the bath without taking anything out. It suits baths that are dull, stained, rough or chipped all over. Common call-outs are for thin, worn enamel in places and an original cast iron bath that needs restoring, on basins & shower trays, acrylic baths and pressed steel baths.

Every repair is covered by a one-year guarantee.

How we price bath re-enamelling

Prices start from £350. There is no charge for travel to Cadishead. The price comes down to:

  • How many items we do on one visit
  • The material
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • What kind of damage it is

No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Quotes from your pictures

When you take your photos, these tips help us give you a firm price:

  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • One sharp close-up of the damage

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, add your postcode and send them to us. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.

Questions from Cadishead

Can landlords book you?

Yes, frequently. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.

How quickly can you book me in?

That depends on our diary for your area. Send pictures with your postcode and we will reply with the earliest dates.

Are you a vetted contractor?

We’re accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

Can you repair something that is been repaired before?

Typically, yes. The old repair comes out first, so let us know about it.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit generally costs less than separate visits. Include pictures of each item.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Just keep them out of the work area. We will let you know when it’s safe to use again.

What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?

It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. The price only changes if you agree.

How long does re-enamelling last?

It depends on preparation, use and care. Properly prepared and looked after, it lasts well, and our work is guaranteed for a year.

The process

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive at the agreed slot, protect everything around the work area, carry out the work and clear up. Allow most of the day. Before we go, we will explain how long to leave it and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. The room is masked, protected and ventilated.
  2. The bath is cleaned, degreased and any chips or rust repaired.
  3. We key the surface and put on a bonding primer.
  4. Several coats of new finish are sprayed on.
  5. The bath is left to cure and can normally be used the next day.

Before we arrive

  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work

Advice

When a repair is not the answer

We’d rather lose a job than do one that will not last, so these are the limits:

  • A cast iron or steel bath that is cracked right through
  • Steel that has corroded right through
  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer.

Surfaces we repair

  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Acrylic baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Cast iron baths

Landlord and trade work in Cadishead

For anyone letting property in or around Cadishead, we’ll quote for several properties at once. Just send pictures for each address and we will come back with a combined price.

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets cannot afford rooms out of action for long, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We’ll fit around changeovers where we can.

Can I fix it myself?

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is usually the cheaper route.

Keeping it looking good

Simple care helps the repair last. We recommend:

  • Wash away dyes and oils after use
  • Keep toiletries on a shelf rather than in the bath
  • Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas
  • Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners

A quick rinse and wipe after use helps, particularly where water is hard, to stop limescale building up.

Avoid scrubbing a dull bath with abrasive cleaners. It removes more of the surface.

What your bath is made of matters

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it needs firm support underneath. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

Repairing versus replacing in Cadishead

Replacing the bath means a plumber, removing a heavy bath, re-tiling or making good the walls and days without a bathroom. Resurfacing renews the whole surface with the bath left where it is. Prices start from £350. What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed price from your photos, so you know the cost before you book.
