Questions from Carnforth
Can you do more than one item on the same visit?
Yes, and it’s often cheaper. Send pictures of everything together and we will quote them together.
Do the materials smell?
A little, depending on the job. Open windows and an extractor fan help, and it soon fades.
Can you repair something that is been repaired before?
In most cases. We remove the old repair before doing a new one, so let us know about it.
Is there a guarantee?
Yes: twelve months. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.
Do you hold any accreditations?
Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.
Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?
Generally, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. If it is not worth repairing, we’ll tell you.
Someone resurfaced my bath and it’s peeling. Can you help?
Yes. Removing the old finish takes extra time, which we include in the price.
Can you make a coloured bath white?
Yes, white is the usual choice. Mention the colour you want when you send photos.
How we handle bath re-enamelling in Carnforth
Many of the baths we re-enamel are period roll-tops, which are heavy, hard to move and costly to replace. Doing them in place keeps an original feature. Typical jobs include chips and rust in more than one place and enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough, across Victorian roll-tops, cast iron baths and pressed steel baths.
You are covered for a year from the day of the repair. If anything isn’t right, ring us and we will sort it.

Related advice
Should you replace it?
Replacing a cast iron bath is a big job: it’s very heavy, may need breaking up, and the replacement can be costly. Resurfacing in place avoids that entirely. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.
Why us?
- A year’s guarantee on all work
- Colour mixed on the day to match
- Work done at your home or business
- Honest advice, even when it means no job

Should I try a DIY kit first?
It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is usually the cheaper route.
For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.
Repairs by material
Roll-top and period baths
We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.
Pressed steel
Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.
When we would advise against a repair
We’d rather lose a job than do one that will not last, so these are the limits:
- Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it
- A bath split right through the body
- Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber
If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think before you book.
Surfaces we repair
- Cast iron baths
- Victorian roll-tops
- Pressed steel baths
- Acrylic baths
- Basins & shower trays

Getting a price from pictures

- Natural light rather than flash

Signs you need bath re-enamelling in Carnforth
The gloss on enamel is thin, and abrasive cleaning slowly wears it away. Eventually the surface turns porous and stains.
Clients typically contact us about:
- Chips and rust in more than one place
- Staining under the taps and around the waste
- Thin, worn enamel in places
- Enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough

Aftercare tips
Good habits make a big difference to how long a repair lasts:
- Don’t let dyes or oils sit on the finish
- Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
- Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners
- Don’t leave a chip unrepaired
Dry the bath after use if possible, particularly with hard water, and rinse away any product left on the surface.
Do not try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It removes more of the surface.
