Need bath re-enamelling in Castlecary?

Repairs by material

Cast iron

Re-enamelling suits cast iron baths perfectly. They’re built to last, and only the surface wears, so resurfacing gives them a new life.

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

How we handle bath re-enamelling in Castlecary

Cast iron and steel baths are ideal for re-enamelling, and we can resurface acrylic baths as well. You end up with a smooth, glossy surface. Our repair technicians work on pressed steel baths, acrylic baths and basins & shower trays, and the jobs we see most are a period or roll-top bath worth keeping and brown or grey marks that don’t clean off.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you’re covered after the visit.

Aftercare tips

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. A few tips:

  • A quick wipe after use keeps limescale away
  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
  • Don’t leave bottles, razors or sponges standing on the surface
  • Avoid suction-cup mats

Rinse the bath and wipe it over after use, particularly where water is hard, so limescale can’t build up.

Avoid scrubbing a dull bath with abrasive cleaners. It removes more of the surface and makes resurfacing more work.

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £350. A fixed quote means you know the cost before you book. We take into account:

  • Access to the area
  • The type of damage
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • How many items we do on one visit

A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Quotes from your pictures

When you take your pictures, these tips help us give you a firm price:

  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • One picture of the entire bath

For a price in Castlecary, the easiest route is photos: one close up, one from further back, plus your postcode. You’ll get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

When a repair isn’t the answer

We won’t take on work that won’t last, so here’s what a repair cannot put right:

  • A bath that’s rusted through
  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up
  • Leaks from fittings rather than the bath

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think before booking.

Materials we repair

  • Basins & shower trays
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Cast iron baths

Repair or replace: which is better?

Replacing a bath can take several days across several trades. Resurfacing takes one technician and typically a day. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed price from your photos, so you know the cost before you book.

The process

We turn up when we said we would and looks over the damage before anything else. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before we open a single tin. The work itself takes the best part of a day, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures until the next day.

How to prepare

  • Point us to the nearest place to park
  • Make sure the area is dry
  • Ensure the room can be ventilated

Advice

Landlords, agents and businesses in Castlecary

Letting agents often send us photos straight from the inventory. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

Castlecary questions

Can I get a quote without a visit?

In nearly every case. We only ask to see it in person if the photos cannot show what we need.

Do I need to be at home?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. After that, you can carry on with your day.

How long will the bath be out of use?

Normally a day, then it’s ready to use the following day. A badly pitted bath can need a second day.

Can pets and children be at home?

Just keep them out of the work area. We will let you know when it’s safe to use again.

Are you a vetted contractor?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

Do you cover the whole of Falkirk?

We cover the entire UK, including Castlecary and the rest of Falkirk. Just include your postcode and we’ll confirm dates.

How durable is a resurfaced bath?

Look after it and it lasts. Gentle cleaning, no suction mats.

What happens after I send photos?

You’ll get a fixed quote back, plus dates. There’s no obligation to book.
