Bath re-enamelling for Caversfield homes

DIY kit or professional repair?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, and the work is guaranteed.

Bath re-enamelling in Caversfield without replacing anything

When a bath is structurally fine but worn out on the surface, resurfacing is normally the best value. It avoids removal, plumbing and re-tiling. We regularly repair basins & shower trays, cast iron baths and pressed steel baths, and the jobs we see most are a peeling or bubbling previous coating and a bath that stays dull however much you clean it.

We guarantee the work for a year. If there’s a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

Looking after it afterwards

How the surface is treated afterwards matters:

  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
  • Avoid suction-cup mats
  • Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it
  • Fix dripping taps quickly

Avoid hair dye, bath bombs and oils sitting on the surface, as they can stain. Repair dripping taps promptly.

Rust spots on a worn bath get worse with time. Resurfacing before they spread keeps it simpler.

Caversfield questions

When can you do it?

That depends on our diary for your area. Send photos with your postcode and we’ll reply with the earliest dates.

Does the bath have to be removed?

No. We resurface it in place, so nothing else is disturbed.

What do you need from me?

Photos of the damage, a photo of the whole bath and your postcode. After that, we just agree a date.

Can you price it without visiting?

In nearly every case. If pictures do not show enough, we’ll ask for another angle.

Do the materials smell?

There can be some smell while we work, so we ventilate the room. It clears as the materials cure.

Will there be fumes?

Some odour is normal while we spray, so we ventilate the room. It clears as the finish cures.

Is there a call-out fee?

Travel is included in the price, with the same prices everywhere we work.

What areas do you cover?

Across the UK. Prices don’t change with location.

When we’d advise against a repair

We’d rather lose a job than do one that won’t last, so these are the limits:

  • Holes rusted through the metal
  • Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber
  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.

Surfaces we repair

  • Pressed steel baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Cast iron baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Victorian roll-tops

Should you replace it?

Replacing a cast iron bath is a big job: it’s very heavy, may need breaking up, and the replacement can be costly. Re-enamelling avoids all of it. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. We don’t add extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Why book with us

The process

Here’s how a visit usually runs: we arrive at the agreed slot, protect everything around the work area, carry out the work and clear up. Allow the best part of a day. Before leaving, we tell you how long to leave it and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
  2. Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
  3. The bath is degreased, repaired and keyed.
  4. We apply the primer and then the finish coats.
  5. We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.

Before we arrive

  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Point us to the nearest place to park
  • Clear the area around the damage

Getting a price

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the whole bath, include your postcode and send them to us. You’ll get a fixed quote, not an estimate.

Repairs by material

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Acrylic

We resurface acrylic baths as well, using a system that bonds to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot.

How we price bath re-enamelling

Prices start from £350. A fixed quote means you know the cost before booking. We take into account:

  • The material
  • How much damage there is
  • The colour and finish to match
  • Access to the area

Instead of hourly rates, we price the whole job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and doing several items at once reduces it.

Send photos for a quote

Before you send pictures, these tips help us give you a firm price:

  • Details of any past repairs
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Natural light rather than flash

Pricing is simple: snap the damage close up and then the entire item, send them to us with your postcode, and you’ll get a fixed price back. Quotes are free and no obligation.
