Bath re-enamelling for Stoke Lyne homes

Landlords, agents and businesses in Stoke Lyne

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Stoke Lyne as well as householders. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it costs much less than replacing.

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, putting right damage done during fitting so nothing needs replacing. We’re CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.

Bath re-enamelling in Stoke Lyne, done in place

A re-enamelled bath looks and feels like a new one, but without the cost and upheaval of a refit. It’s ideal if you like your bathroom but not the state of the bath. Typical jobs include chips and rust in more than one place and an old resurfacing that’s failing, across cast iron baths, acrylic baths and pressed steel baths.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything isn’t right, ring us and we will come back.

When to call us in Stoke Lyne

Sometimes it’s an earlier resurfacing that has failed, peeling around the waste or bubbling. Failing coatings are stripped back before we resurface.

Look out for any of the following:

  • Worn patches where water runs and sits
  • A coating lifting around the plughole
  • A bath that stays dull however much you clean it
  • A bath in a colour that no longer suits

The process

On the day, the technician arrives at the agreed time, protects the room with dust sheets and masking and gets started. The job normally takes a full day. We tidy up before we leave and let you know when you can use it again.

  1. The room is masked, protected and ventilated.
  2. The bath is cleaned, degreased and any chips or rust repaired.
  3. We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
  4. Several coats of new finish are sprayed on.
  5. Once cured, normally by the following day, the bath is ready.

Advice

What your bath is made of matters

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that’s what we repair.

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

Questions from Stoke Lyne

Can you do the outside of a roll-top?

Yes. Inside and out if you’d like.

How long is the bath unusable?

One day for most baths, ready the following day. We give you timings with the quote.

What do you need from me?

Photos of the damage, a picture of the whole bath and your postcode. Then we’ll agree a date.

Is there a smell?

A little, during the work. We set up ventilation and the smell fades as it cures.

Which areas do you work in?

The whole UK, including all of Oxfordshire. Just include your postcode and we will confirm dates.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

We can work for tenants, landlords or agents. Just make sure the landlord agrees.

Do the materials smell?

There may be a mild smell during the work that clears as it cures.

Are you a vetted contractor?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

Why repair rather than replace?

Replacement only makes sense in a few cases: a cracked-through bath, a change of size or shape, or a full refit. Otherwise, resurfacing usually wins. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. A repair generally costs much less than people expect, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

What you get with us

Looking after it afterwards

To keep it looking its best:

  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
  • A dripping tap should be fixed promptly
  • Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it
  • Keep suction mats out of the bath

Use mild, non-abrasive cleaners, avoid suction bath mats, and don’t leave bottles or razors standing on the surface.

Leave a peeling coating alone. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so it’s better to have it stripped and redone.

When a repair isn’t the answer

Not everything can be repaired, and we would rather say so up front. We cannot fix:

  • A bath that is rusted through
  • Problems we can’t see until an old finish comes off
  • Leaks from fittings rather than the bath

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly.

Materials we repair

  • Basins & shower trays
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Acrylic baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Cast iron baths

Can I fix it myself?

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it does not stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.
