Chadshunt: your questions answered

How durable is a resurfaced bath?

Look after it and it lasts. Gentle cleaning, no suction mats.

Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?

Normally, yes. The old repair comes out first, so mention it when you send pictures.

Are there extra charges for Chadshunt?

We don’t add a call-out fee. Your fixed quote includes everything.

Do you resurface freestanding baths?

Yes. We can do the inside and outside.

Will there be a smell?

Expect a mild smell while we are working.

What happens if you find more damage?

It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. The price only changes if you agree.

How quickly can you book me in?

We’ll give you dates with your quote. If it’s urgent, say so and we will do what we can.

Can you change the colour of my bath?

Yes, white is the usual choice. Mention the colour you want when you send photos.

How we handle bath re-enamelling in Chadshunt

Re-enamelling gives a worn bath a new glossy surface without taking anything out. It’s the answer when the whole bath is tired rather than one spot. Our repair technicians work on pressed steel baths, acrylic baths and Victorian roll-tops, and people most often call us about several chips and rust patches and a roll-top that’s seen better days.

We guarantee the work for a year. If something isn’t right in that time, we come back and put it right.

When a repair is not the answer

A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:

  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot
  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
  • A bath that is rusted through

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly before booking.

Surfaces we repair

  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Acrylic baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Cast iron baths

How the visit works

There’s not much you need to do on the day. Let us in and show us the room, and we will take it from there. The job generally runs to a full day, tidy-up included.

  1. We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
  2. Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
  3. We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
  4. Primer and finish coats are applied.
  5. The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.

Preparing for the visit

  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Point us to the nearest place to park
  • Let us know about parking or access

Ask for a price

You do not need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price.

For landlords and businesses

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Send the address, pictures and access details and we’ll handle the rest.

Hospitality businesses need rooms back in use quickly, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We will fit around changeovers where we can.

Repair or replace: which is better?

Getting a cast iron bath out is hard work: they’re heavy, frequently need breaking up, and a new one isn’t cheap. Resurfacing in place avoids that entirely. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. The price depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed price from your pictures, so you know the cost before you book.

What you get with us

  • Typically one visit, start to finish
  • Honest advice, even when it means no job
  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish
  • No extra charge for your area

See our prices page or guide to resurfacing and replacement costs.

What your bath is made of matters

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that’s what we repair.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is generally the cheaper route.

Looking after it afterwards

Good habits make a big difference to how long a repair lasts. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Have chips seen to early
  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
  • A quick wipe after use keeps limescale away
  • Keep toiletries on a shelf rather than in the bath

Treat the new finish gently at first: let it cure fully, then use mild cleaners only. From then on, avoid abrasives and suction mats.

The longer worn enamel is left, the rougher it gets, and any rust spreads underneath. Acting earlier keeps the preparation simpler.

Prices and what affects them

Resurfacing from £350. We charge the same across the UK, including Chadshunt. The price reflects:

  • The material and finish
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • How many areas need work

The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. You will see the full price before booking, with no extras added later.

How to get a fixed quote

You can typically get a fixed price without us visiting. To make it quick:

  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • Details of any past repairs
  • One picture of the whole bath

For a price in Chadshunt, photos are the quickest way: one close up, one from further back, plus your postcode. We reply with a fixed quote and our next available dates.
