How we handle bath re-enamelling in Chancery

A re-enamelled bath looks and feels like a new one, but without the cost and upheaval of a refit. It suits anyone happy with the bathroom apart from the bath. Whether it’s worn patches where water runs and sits and an old resurfacing that’s failing, we can generally put it right, on cast iron baths, pressed steel baths and acrylic baths alike.

You’re covered after we leave: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we will explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

Should you replace it?

Replacement only makes sense in a few cases: a cracked-through bath, a change of size or shape, or a full refit. Otherwise, resurfacing usually wins. Prices start from £350. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send pictures and you will get a fixed figure.

What you get with us

  • One visit for most repairs
  • We leave the room as we found it
  • Free fixed quotes from pictures
  • Colour mixed on the day to match

See our prices page and bath cost comparison.

What happens on the day

We begin by going over the job with you, so there are no surprises. After that, protection goes down around the work area and we start. You can expect it to take a full day.

  1. We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
  2. Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
  3. We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
  4. Primer and finish coats are applied.
  5. The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.

Before we arrive

  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access

Getting a price

You don’t need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.

Do you need bath re-enamelling in Chancery?

Enamel’s shine is only skin deep, and every scrub with an abrasive cleaner takes a little away. Eventually the surface turns porous and stains.

Common reasons people in Chancery contact us are:

  • Stains that will not shift
  • A roll-top that’s seen better days
  • A coating lifting around the plughole
  • Wear marks under the taps

What your quote should include

  • What happens if they find more damage
  • What the guarantee covers, and for how long
  • What protection goes down before work starts
  • Whether a trained technician does the job

Choosing a repair company

For landlords and businesses

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which is easier on the people living there.

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Chancery as well as homeowners. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it costs much less than replacing.

Repairs by material

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that’s the part we put right.

Pressed steel

Steel baths re-enamel well, once any rust has been treated. Rust around the waste is common on steel, so we check it carefully.

FAQs for Chancery

Will the bath be moved?

No. It’s re-enamelled where it stands, so nothing else is disturbed.

What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?

The price is fixed for what the photos show. Anything extra is discussed before we begin.

Will it make a mess?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we take our waste away with us.

Do I have to be there?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. After that, you can carry on with your day.

What information do you need?

Send pictures through the quote form or call 0345 017 0787.

Is the work guaranteed?

All our work carries our one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.

Do you resurface freestanding baths?

Yes. We can do the inside and outside if you’d like.

Which areas do you work in?

All of Ceredigion, and the rest of the UK. Travel is included in the price.

Can I fix it myself?

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, then guarantee it for a year.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair won’t last.

How to look after the repair

It’s all simple stuff, just a few sensible habits:

  • Do not leave a chip unrepaired
  • Do not use the bath until it has fully cured
  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
  • Wash away dyes and oils after use

A quick rinse and wipe after use helps, particularly where water is hard, to stop limescale building up.

Do not try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It removes more of the surface.

How we price bath re-enamelling

Resurfacing from £350. We charge the same across the UK, including Chancery. The price reflects:

  • How hard the colour is to match
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • What the surface is made of
  • The size and number of damaged areas

There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Send photos for a quote

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage, and it saves a visit. Please include:

  • Any details about the material
  • A wider photo showing the entire bath
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area

Upload pictures of the damage and one of the entire item, with your SY23 postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote.
