Bath re-enamelling at your home in Cocks

We do not move the bath, so your taps, tiles and plumbing are left alone. It generally takes one visit, and can be used again the day after. Typical jobs include worn patches where water runs and sits and lots of chips and rust spots, across Victorian roll-tops, cast iron baths and basins & shower trays.

You are covered for a year from the day of the repair. Just call us if there’s a problem and we will sort it.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Cocks

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs in Cornwall and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which is easier on the people living there.

Hospitality businesses can’t afford rooms out of action for long, so we keep visits short and tidy. We will fit around changeovers where we can.

How to care for the repair

Simple care helps the repair last. We recommend:

  • Wash away dyes and oils after use
  • Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners
  • A quick wipe after use keeps limescale away
  • Have chips seen to early

Dry the bath after use if possible, particularly with hard water, and rinse away any product left on the surface.

If a previous coating is starting to peel, don’t pick at it. Moisture gets underneath and makes it worse, so it’s better to have it stripped and redone.

Questions from Cocks

Is it messy?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we take our waste away with us.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit usually costs less than separate visits. Include pictures of each item.

Is my repair covered?

Yes: twelve months. If there’s a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

What areas do you cover?

The entire UK, including all of Cornwall. Just include your postcode and we’ll confirm dates.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Yes, we frequently do. Removing the old work can add time, and that is in the quote.

How long is the bath unusable?

Generally one day, with the bath ready the following day. A badly pitted bath can need a second day.

Do you come to Cocks?

Yes. We work across the UK and come to Cocks. Send photos and we’ll quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Is there a smell?

A little, during the work. We set up ventilation and the smell fades as it cures.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is usually the cheaper route.

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

What we do, step by step

Visits start with a quick look at the job together, so you know exactly what we’re doing. Then the area is sheeted and masked and the work begins. It normally takes a full day, and we will keep you posted as we go.

  1. First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
  2. Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
  3. We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
  4. We apply the primer and then the finish coats.
  5. The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.

Advice

What bath re-enamelling costs

Resurfacing from £350. We charge the same across the UK, including Cocks. The price reflects:

  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • How many areas need work

Our prices are the same across the UK, so there is no premium for Cocks. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Send photos for a quote

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage, and it saves a visit. Please include:

  • Any details about the material
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • A photo taken from further back

To get a price, send two or three pictures through our quote form or ring us. We will tell you honestly if a repair is the right fix.

When a repair isn’t the answer

Before you book, it’s worth knowing the limits:

  • Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)
  • Problems we can’t see until an old finish comes off
  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer.

What we work on

  • Pressed steel baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Cast iron baths

Different materials, different repairs

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it needs firm support underneath. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

What we are called out for in Cocks

Older baths often have several problems at once: worn patches, chips, rust spots and stains. Re-enamelling deals with all of them in one go.

You may need us if you’ve spotted:

  • An old resurfacing that is failing
  • Thin, worn enamel in places
  • A bath that stays dull however much you clean it
  • A bath in a colour that no longer suits

Questions to ask before you book

  • Whether they match the colour on site
  • When it can be used again
  • Whether the price covers travel
  • Aftercare advice
