How we handle bath re-enamelling in Coed-mawr
The bath stays where it is, so the taps, tiles and plumbing are not touched. Most baths are done in one visit, with the bath ready to use the following day. Typical jobs include an old resurfacing that’s failing and chips and rust in more than one place, in basins & shower trays, acrylic baths and Victorian roll-tops.

Coed-mawr: your questions answered
Will there be fumes?
A little, during the work. Ventilation keeps it down, and it fades as the finish cures.
Are you a vetted contractor?
We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.
How do I book?
Some photos, your postcode and how to reach you. On the day, access to the room.
When can you do it?
We will give you dates with your quote. If it’s urgent, say so and we will do what we can.
How do I get a price for bath re-enamelling in Coed-mawr?
Prices start from £350. The exact price depends on the damage, so we quote from pictures. You know the full cost before anything is booked.
Is it messy?
We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and we clean up when we have finished.
Can you price it without visiting?
Yes, almost always. Clear pictures let us give you a fixed quote without visiting.
Is there any odour?
It depends on the job, but frequently a little. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum, and it soon fades.

What we’re called out for in Coed-mawr
Older baths frequently have several problems at once: worn patches, chips, rust spots and stains. Resurfacing sorts them out together.
These are the problems we are asked about most:
- Brown or grey marks that don’t clean off
- An old resurfacing that is failing
- Chips and rust in more than one place
- Enamel that is lost its shine and feels rough

Repairs by material
Roll-top and period baths
Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.
Pressed steel
Pressed steel baths take a new finish well, as long as any rust is dealt with first. Rust around the waste is common on steel, so we pay close attention there.
Repair or replace: which is better?
A refit takes several trades and several days. Re-enamelling takes one technician and usually one day, with the bath ready the day after. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Rather than charging by the hour, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it, and combining items on one visit brings it down.
What you get with us
- Colour-matched on site
- A fixed quote before you book
- One-year guarantee on every repair
- Typically one visit, start to finish
Read our pricing and guide to resurfacing and replacement costs.
Can I fix it myself?
Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is typically the cheaper route.
The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, and the work is guaranteed.
When a repair is not the answer
Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:
- Problems we cannot see until an old finish comes off
- Leaks from fittings rather than the bath
- A cast iron or steel bath that’s cracked right through
If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think before you book.
Materials we repair
- Cast iron baths
- Pressed steel baths
- Basins & shower trays
- Acrylic baths
- Victorian roll-tops
What affects the price in Coed-mawr
Resurfacing from £350. Each job gets its own fixed price. This is what makes a difference:
- The material
- How many areas need work
- Doing more than one item at once
- The colour and finish to match
A repair generally costs much less than people expect, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Send photos and we’ll give you the exact figure.
Getting a price from pictures
When you take your pictures, these tips help us give you a firm price:
- Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
- A close-up of the damage, in focus
- Any details about the material
- Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare

Keeping it looking good
To keep it looking its best for years:
- Respect the curing time we give you
- Store bottles off the bath
- Wash away dyes and oils after use
- Have chips seen to early
The first few days matter most: let it cure fully, then use mild cleaners only. After that, no abrasives and no suction mats.
Leave a peeling coating alone. Moisture gets underneath and makes it worse, so have it stripped and resurfaced.
How it works
Nothing needs to be moved out of the room beforehand. We bring everything we need with us, put protection down and get going once we’ve agreed what we’re doing. Most jobs take most of the day, and you are welcome to carry on with your day while we work.
- First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
- Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
- The bath is degreased, repaired and keyed.
- Primer and finish coats are applied.
- The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.
Preparing for the visit
- Clear the area around the damage
- Open a window if you can
- Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
Getting a price
Getting a price is easy: snap the damage close up and then the whole item, send them to us with your postcode, and you will get a fixed quote back. There’s no charge for the quote and no obligation.
