Bath re-enamelling in Cogges, done in place
Many of the baths we re-enamel are period roll-tops, which are heavy, hard to move and costly to replace. Resurfacing them in place keeps the original bath. We work on cast iron baths, acrylic baths and Victorian roll-tops, and the jobs we see most are a period or roll-top bath worth keeping and brown or grey marks that don’t clean off.
You’re covered for a year from the day of the repair. Just call us if there’s a problem and we’ll come back.

Looking after it afterwards
A little care keeps the finish looking good. We recommend:
- Never use suction bath mats
- Get any chip repaired quickly
- Respect the curing time we give you
- Repair dripping taps early
Treat the new finish gently at first: give it the full curing time, then clean it gently. From then on, avoid abrasives and suction mats.
Avoid scrubbing a dull bath with abrasive cleaners. It removes more of the surface and makes resurfacing more work.

Cogges questions
Is there a call-out fee?
There is no separate call-out charge. Your fixed price includes everything.
Do you come to Cogges?
Yes. We work across the UK and come to Cogges and the rest of Oxfordshire. Send photos and we’ll quote, or call 0345 017 0787.
I rent my home. Can I book you?
We’re happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Just make sure the landlord agrees.
Can I add another job to the visit?
Yes, and it’s often cheaper. Just add the extra items to your pictures and you’ll get one combined price.
What happens after I send photos?
You get a fixed quote and available dates. If anything’s unclear, we’ll ask for another photo.
Is a repair better than a new one?
Generally, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.
Can landlords book you?
Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as homeowners across Oxfordshire.
Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?
Most of the time. Let us know what was used before.
When to call us in Cogges
Sometimes it’s an earlier resurfacing that has failed, lifting by the plughole or blistering. Failing coatings are stripped back before we resurface.
Common reasons people in Cogges contact us include:
- A dull, rough surface that won’t come clean
- Stains that won’t shift
- A bath in a colour that no longer suits
- Lots of chips and rust spots
Questions to ask before you book
- How soon you can use it again
- Whether they match the colour on site
- What the guarantee covers, and for how long
- Whether there are any call-out or travel charges
Should you replace it?
Replacement only makes sense in a few cases: if the bath is cracked through, if you want a different size or shape, or if you’re refitting the whole room anyway. In most other cases, resurfacing is the better choice. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed quote from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

How it works
Once we’re through the door, the aim is to do the job without disturbing the rest of your home. We mask off everything nearby, the job takes a full day, and we finish with a tidy-up and a look at the finished work together.
- First we protect the bathroom and set up ventilation.
- The bath is cleaned, degreased and any chips or rust repaired.
- We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
- We spray several coats of new enamel finish.
- Once cured, normally by the next day, the bath is ready.
Before we arrive
- Open a window if you can
- Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
- Let us know if it has been repaired before
Ask for a price
The quickest way to a price is to send two or three photos through our quote form or ring us. We will tell you honestly whether it can be repaired.

Prices and what affects them
Resurfacing from £350. Prices are worked out job by job, from your pictures. The main factors are:
- Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
- Access to the area
- How hard the colour is to match
- How many areas need work
A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send pictures and you’ll get a fixed figure.
Getting a price from photos
Most quotes are done from photos alone. To make it quick:
- Where you are, by postcode
- Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
- Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
- Something in shot to show the size
A quote takes minutes to ask for: photograph the damage, then the whole bath, include your postcode and send them to us. You’ll get a fixed price, not an estimate.
What your bath is made of matters
Pressed steel
Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.
Cast iron
Cast iron baths are the classic candidate for re-enamelling. They’re built to last, and only the surface wears, so resurfacing gives them a new life.
What we can’t put right
Some jobs aren’t right for a repair, including:
- A bath split right through the body
- Problems we can’t see until an old finish comes off
- A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up
Send us photos and we will tell you honestly before booking.
What we work on
- Victorian roll-tops
- Acrylic baths
- Cast iron baths
- Basins & shower trays
- Pressed steel baths
DIY kit or professional repair?
DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.
If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.
