Need bath resealing in Cogges?

Why reseal now?

Resealing is a small job. Leaving split or mouldy sealant lets water get behind the bath or tray, and that damage costs much more to fix. Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Send pictures and we’ll give you the exact figure.

Why book with us

  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • Straight answers about what a repair can do
  • CHAS and Constructionline accredited
  • Generally one visit, start to finish

How we handle bath resealing in Cogges

Baths, trays, basins and kitchen worktops all get resealed. A typical reseal takes a couple of hours, plus curing time. Typical jobs include an untidy old seal and damp near the bath, across wet rooms, kitchen worktops & sinks and basins & vanity units.

Peace of mind is built in: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we’ll explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

Repairs by material

Shower trays

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, for the same reason.

Baths

We fill the bath before sealing, to open the joint fully.

How the visit works

The work is clean and fairly quiet. Protection goes down first, then the job itself takes around two hours. At the end we talk you through how soon it can be used and how to look after it.

  1. We cut out and remove all of the old sealant.
  2. The joint is cleaned and any mould treated.
  3. We ensure the joint is completely dry.
  4. Baths are filled with water first, so the joint is at its widest.
  5. We apply new mould-resistant silicone and tool it to a neat finish, including around the taps.

Before we arrive

  • Make sure the area is dry
  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Let us know which floor the room is on

Advice

Should I try a DIY kit first?

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, then guarantee it for a year.

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it won’t stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

When we’d advise against a repair

A repair is not always the answer, and we’d rather say so up front. Repairs won’t solve:

  • Loose tiles, which need refixing first
  • Gaps so wide they need filling or trims before sealing
  • Water damage behind the bath that needs a builder

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Surfaces we repair

  • Wet rooms
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Baths
  • Shower trays & enclosures

How to look after the repair

Simple care helps the repair last. Our advice:

  • Clean the sealant gently and regularly
  • Wipe the joints dry after use
  • Do not stand toiletries on the seal
  • Ventilate the bathroom well

Use the extractor fan, wipe the joints dry after use, and clean them regularly with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.

If you notice damp, stains on the ceiling below or loose tiles, act quickly. There may be more going on, so we will tell you if it needs a builder or plumber.

Prices and what affects them

Every quote is fixed and free. What we take into account:

  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Access to the area
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • The type of damage

It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Getting a price from photos

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage. Try to send:

  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • A photo taken from further back

Pricing is simple: take a close-up of the damage and a photo from further back, send them over with your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote. There’s no charge for the quote and no obligation.

Cogges: your questions answered

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Yes, as long as they stay out of the room we’re working in. We will let you know when it’s safe to use again.

Can new silicone go over old?

No, we never seal over old silicone. The old sealant is cut out and the joint cleaned and dried.

What information do you need?

Just pictures, your postcode and a contact number. On the day, access to the room.

Will it make a mess?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we leave the room clean.

How long will it take?

A bath or shower generally takes a couple of hours. It then needs time to cure.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes, and it’s frequently cheaper. Just add the extra items to your pictures and we’ll quote them together.

Why does my sealant keep going mouldy?

Mould needs moisture. Run the fan, dry the joints and the new seal stays cleaner for longer.

What happens next?

You will get a fixed quote back, plus dates. You’re under no obligation.

Do you need bath resealing in Cogges?

Sealant splits when the bath or tray moves, frequently because it was sealed while the bath was empty.

Common reasons people in Cogges contact us include:

  • Gaps in the seal
  • Black spots in the silicone
