How we handle bath re-enamelling in Combe
Many of the baths we re-enamel are period roll-tops, which would be difficult and expensive to replace. Doing them in place keeps an original feature. We regularly repair cast iron baths, Victorian roll-tops and basins & shower trays, and common reasons people contact us are a dull, rough surface that won’t come clean and an outdated colour you’d like to change.
A one-year guarantee comes as standard.

Common questions in Combe
Do you work for landlords and businesses?
We do, regularly. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.
I rent my home. Can I book you?
We can work for tenants, landlords or agents. Just make sure the landlord agrees.
Can I get a quote without a visit?
Nearly always. We only ask to see it in person if the pictures cannot show what we need.
What if the damage is worse than the photos show?
We stop, show you and agree any change before carrying on. You will not be charged for anything you haven’t agreed.
Is the work guaranteed?
All our work carries a one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.
How long does re-enamelling take?
Usually one day, with the bath ready the following day. A badly pitted bath can need a second day.
Do I need to be at home?
Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. You do not need to watch us work.
Is there any odour?
There can be some smell while we work, which is why we ventilate. It fades as everything cures.
DIY kit or professional repair?
It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is usually the cheaper route.
If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.
For landlords and businesses
We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out pictures. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.
If you manage property in Combe, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Just send pictures for each address and we will price them together.
Should you replace it?
For a sound bath, resurfacing costs far less than replacement, when you count removal, plumbing, tiling and decorating. It’s also far quicker. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send pictures and you’ll get a fixed figure.

Materials and what they mean for the repair
Pressed steel
Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.
Roll-top and period baths
Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.
How it works
You don’t need to empty the room. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and get going once we’ve agreed what we’re doing. It generally takes most of the day, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.
- The room is masked, protected and ventilated.
- Next we degrease the bath and fix chips and rust spots.
- We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
- Several coats of new finish are sprayed on.
- Once cured, normally by the day after, the bath is ready.
Getting ready for the visit
- Open a window if you can
- Let the surface dry out before the visit
- Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
How to get a price
We price from photos so you don’t have to wait in for a survey. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through, and we’ll come back with a fixed figure.

- Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
- An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot
- A cast iron or steel bath that is cracked right through
If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think before you book.

Aftercare tips
A little care keeps the finish looking good. Our advice:
- Have chips seen to early
- Keep suction mats out of the bath
- Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
- Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
Wipe the bath dry after use where you can, and rinse off any bath products.
Don’t try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It just wears the enamel further.
Do you need bath re-enamelling in Combe?
Often the bath has just had decades of use, and only the surface is worn. Underneath, a cast iron or steel bath is normally as strong as ever.
People typically call us when they notice something like this:
- A period or roll-top bath worth keeping
- Worn patches where water runs and sits
- An outdated colour you’d like to change
- A bath that stays dull however much you clean it
What your quote should include

- Whether the price covers travel
- Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
- When it can be used again
