Bath re-enamelling in East End without replacing anything

Re-enamelling gives a worn bath a new glossy surface without a refit. It suits baths that are dull, stained, rough or chipped all over. If you’re dealing with an original cast iron bath that needs restoring and several chips and rust patches, we can normally put it right.

FAQs for East End

What do you need from me?

A close-up, a wider photo and your postcode. After that, we just agree a date.

Can you change the colour of my bath?

Yes, most people go for white. Tell us what you’d like when you ask for a quote.

Does re-enamelling smell?

A little, during the work. Ventilation keeps it down, and it fades as the finish cures.

Can you fix a peeling bath coating?

In most cases. We strip the failing coating and resurface it properly. Mention it when you send photos.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Just keep them out of the work area. We will let you know when it’s safe to use again.

Which areas do you work in?

We work UK-wide. Our prices are the same everywhere.

Is there any odour?

It depends on the job, but frequently a little. Open windows and an extractor fan help, and it soon fades.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes, and it’s frequently cheaper. Just add the extra items to your pictures and we’ll quote them together.

Repair or replace: which is better?

There are times replacing is better: if the bath is cracked through, if you want a different size or shape, or if you’re refitting the entire room anyway. Otherwise, resurfacing normally wins. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it, and doing several items at once reduces it.

Why us?

  • No extra charge for your area
  • Rooms protected and left tidy
  • One visit for most repairs
  • Colour-matched on site

How it works

Your technician turns up when we said we would, introduces themselves and checks the damage against your photos first. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before any work starts. The work itself takes the best part of a day, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
  2. Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
  3. The bath is degreased, repaired and keyed.
  4. Primer and finish coats are applied.
  5. The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.

Before we arrive

  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Ensure the area is dry
  • Ensure the room can be ventilated

How we price bath re-enamelling

Prices start from £350. We don’t charge extra for travel to East End. The price comes down to:

  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • Access to the area

We do not add extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Photographing the damage takes a minute, and it saves a visit. Try to send:

  • Where you are, by postcode
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection

DIY repairs versus a professional job

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is typically the cheaper route.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

When to call us in East End

By the time a bath is a few decades old, it may have a mix of issues: dull areas, chips, rust and staining. Resurfacing sorts them out together.

People usually call us when they notice one of these:

  • Chips and rust in more than one place
  • An original cast iron bath that needs restoring
  • A bath in a colour that no longer suits
  • A dull, rough surface that will not come clean

What your quote should include

  • What protection goes down before work starts
  • How to care for the finish
  • What preparation is included
  • When it can be used again

10 questions to ask before you book

Landlords, agents and businesses in East End

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover. We can visit several plots in one trip.

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

What your bath is made of matters

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it needs firm support underneath. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

How to look after the repair

Most damage we see is avoidable. These habits help:

  • Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs right away
  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
  • Respect the curing time we give you
  • Get any chip repaired quickly

Give the finish its full curing time before using the bath. After that, a soft cloth and washing-up liquid is all it needs.

Avoid scrubbing a dull bath with abrasive cleaners. It just wears the enamel further.
