Questions from Craig's End

Is there a call-out fee?

No. Our quotes include travel, with the same prices everywhere we work.

What areas do you cover?

Everywhere in the UK, Craig's End included. There’s no extra charge for travel.

Can you price it without visiting?

Normally, yes. Clear photos let us give you a fixed price without visiting.

Will the price change on the day?

We will show you and explain before doing anything extra. Nothing extra is done without your say-so.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

In most cases. We remove the old repair before doing a new one, so mention it when you send pictures.

Can you do the outside of a roll-top?

Yes, frequently. The inside is resurfaced, and we can refinish the outside as well.

How quickly can you book me in?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. Send pictures with your postcode and we’ll reply with the earliest dates.

Is it messy?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we take our waste away with us.

About our bath re-enamelling in Craig's End

Cast iron, steel, acrylic, roll-top and period baths can all be resurfaced. Several coats of finish go on over a bonding primer, after the bath has been cleaned, repaired and keyed. Typical jobs include a bath that stays dull however much you clean it and staining under the taps and around the waste, across acrylic baths, cast iron baths and basins & shower trays.

Every repair is covered by our one-year guarantee, wherever you are in Essex.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are the classic candidate for re-enamelling. The body lasts for generations; only the enamel wears, so resurfacing gives them a new life.

Pressed steel

Steel baths re-enamel well, as long as any rust is dealt with first. Rust around the waste is common on steel, so we check it carefully.

When to call us in Craig's End

A dull surface stains and holds dirt, and scrubbing it wears it down further. That’s the point where re-enamelling makes sense.

Common reasons people in Craig's End contact us are:

  • A roll-top that is seen better days
  • An outdated colour you’d like to change
  • Chips and rust in more than one place
  • Wear marks under the taps

What to look for in a quote

  • The length of the guarantee and what it covers
  • How the colour is matched
  • How to look after the finish
  • What happens if the damage is worse than the pictures show

How to compare quotes

What bath re-enamelling costs

Resurfacing from £350. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price depends on:

  • The material
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • How many items we do on one visit

Compared with replacing, repairing generally costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. The quote lists exactly what you are paying for.

How to get a fixed quote

The better the pictures, the more accurate the price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • Something in shot to show the size
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus

To get a price, send two or three photos using our quote form or ring us. We’ll tell you honestly if a repair is the right fix.

Aftercare tips

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners
  • Avoid suction-cup mats
  • A dripping tap should be fixed promptly
  • Respect the curing time we give you

Rinse away dyes, oils and bath bombs straight after use, as they can stain. Repair dripping taps promptly.

Leave a peeling coating alone. Moisture gets underneath and makes it worse, so it’s better to have it stripped and redone.

DIY kit or professional repair?

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

Why repair rather than replace?

Replacing the bath means a plumber, lifting out the old bath, re-tiling or making good the walls and several days without a working bathroom. Re-enamelling gives the bath a new finish with the bath left where it is. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Rather than charging by the hour, we price the whole job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and doing several items at once reduces it.

How the visit works

On the day itself, there’s little for you to do. Let us in and show us the room, and we will take it from there. The job generally runs to most of the day.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure.

Preparing for the visit

  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift

You do not need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.
