About our bath re-enamelling in Cratfield

After re-enamelling, the bath has a smooth, glossy, new-looking surface, but without the cost and upheaval of a refit. It’s ideal if you like your bathroom but not the state of the bath. If you’re dealing with a bath in a colour that no longer suits and several chips and rust patches, we can normally put it right, whatever the material.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything isn’t right, ring us and we’ll sort it.

When a repair isn’t the answer

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • Problems we can’t see until an old finish comes off
  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up
  • Steel that has corroded right through

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer.

Materials we repair

  • Acrylic baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Cast iron baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Pressed steel baths

DIY kit or professional repair?

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

How it works

From the moment we arrive, the aim is to do the job without disturbing the rest of your home. We mask off everything nearby, the job takes most of the day, depending on what we find, and we finish by cleaning up and talking you through the result.

  1. First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
  2. Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
  3. The bath is degreased, repaired and keyed.
  4. Primer and finish coats are applied.
  5. The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.

Preparing for the visit

  • Open a window if you can
  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Point us to the nearest place to park

Ask for a price

You do not need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price.

Advice

How to look after the repair

To keep it looking its best for years:

  • Do not let dyes or oils sit on the finish
  • Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas
  • Have chips seen to early
  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth

Dry the bath after use if possible, especially in hard water areas, and rinse off any bath products.

Don’t try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It removes more of the surface.

Cratfield: your questions answered

Do you cover Cratfield?

Yes, we do. Technicians travel to Cratfield from across the region, and the price is the same as everywhere else.

How durable is a resurfaced bath?

Care for it and it lasts. Avoid abrasive cleaners and suction mats.

Is there a guarantee?

All our work carries our one-year guarantee. We will explain what it covers when we quote.

Do I need to be at home?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time that suits you.

How quickly can you book me in?

Your quote comes with available dates. Tell us if you need it done quickly.

Are you accredited?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

Is there any odour?

A little, depending on the job. Open windows and an extractor fan help, and it soon fades.

How long does re-enamelling take?

One day for most baths and can be used the day after. We will confirm timings when we quote.

What affects the price in Cratfield

Resurfacing from £350. There’s no charge for travel to Cratfield. The price depends on:

  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • Access to the area
  • The type of damage
  • The colour and finish to match

A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send pictures and you’ll get a fixed figure.

Getting a price from pictures

When you take your pictures, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus

For most jobs, pictures are all we need to give you a price. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we will send back a fixed quote and some dates.

Repair or replace: which is better?

There are times replacing is better: if the bath is cracked through, if you want a different size or shape, or if you are refitting the whole room anyway. In most other cases, resurfacing is the better choice. Prices start from £350. Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Send pictures and we’ll give you the exact figure.

What you get with us

What your bath is made of matters

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that is the part we put right.

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it relies on good support. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

For landlords and businesses

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover. We can visit several plots in one trip to keep costs down.

Letting agents often send us pictures straight from the inventory. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.
