We regularly repair acrylic baths, pressed steel baths and basins & shower trays, and people most often call us about a roll-top that’s seen better days and a bath that stays dull however much you clean it.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair will not last.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

Prices and what affects them

Resurfacing from £350. We price every job individually. What matters most is:

  • How much damage there is
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • Doing more than one item at once

Our prices are the same across the UK, so there’s no premium for Crocketford. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Quotes from your pictures

You can generally get a fixed quote without us visiting. To make it quick:

  • One picture of the whole bath
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings

For a price in Crocketford, photos are the quickest way: a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode. We reply with a fixed quote and our next available dates.

When we would advise against a repair

A repair isn’t right for every job, including:

  • Problems we cannot see until an old finish comes off
  • A bath split right through the body
  • Holes rusted through the metal

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.

Looking after it afterwards

Most damage we see is avoidable. A few tips:

  • Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs immediately
  • Store bottles off the bath
  • Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners
  • Avoid suction-cup mats

The first few days matter most: give it the full curing time, then clean it gently. After that, no abrasives and no suction mats.

Do not try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It removes more of the surface and makes resurfacing more work.

Questions from Crocketford

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Typically, when the rest is in good condition. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. We will tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

Can you make a coloured bath white?

Yes, white is the usual choice. Tell us what you’d like when you ask for a quote.

Does re-enamelling smell?

Some odour is normal while we spray, which is why we ventilate the bathroom. It fades as the coating cures.

Will the new finish last?

It depends on preparation, use and care. Properly prepared and looked after, it lasts well, and it’s guaranteed for a year.

Do you charge for travel?

Travel is included in the price, with the same prices everywhere we work.

What does bath re-enamelling cost?

Prices start from £350. Because every job differs, we price from photos. You know the full cost before anything is booked.

Does someone need to be in?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. After that, you can carry on with your day.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

We ask you to keep children and pets out of the room while we work and until it has cured. Everywhere else in the home is fine.

Landlord and trade work in Crocketford

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out pictures. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

Repairs by material

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it relies on good support. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are the classic candidate for re-enamelling. They’re built to last, and only the surface wears, so resurfacing gives them a new life.

Should you replace it?

There are times replacing is better: a cracked-through bath, a change of size or shape, or a full refit. In most other cases, resurfacing is the better choice. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it, and combining items on one visit brings it down.
