About bath repair in DG2

Whether your bath is steel, cast iron or acrylic, we can repair it. The method changes with the material: metal baths need any rust dealt with first, and acrylic cracks need support from behind. We regularly repair cast iron enamel, whirlpool & spa baths and roll-top & freestanding, and the jobs we see most are damage done while the bathroom was being fitted and damage beneath the taps.

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive at the agreed slot, sheet and mask the area around the job, carry out the work and clear up. Allow a morning or an afternoon. Before we go, we’ll explain when it can be used and how to care for it.

  1. Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
  2. We clean, key and degrease the damage, and any rust is treated.
  3. We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
  4. Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
  5. We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, typically the day after.

What we’re called out for in DG2

Baths take more knocks than people expect: everyday items get dropped into it all the time, and fittings press hard against the enamel. Sooner or later, most baths pick up a chip.

Customers typically contact us about:

  • Damage done while the bathroom was being fitted
  • Damage beneath the taps
  • Scratches you can feel with a fingernail
  • Chips on the rim or sides

Repairs by material

Pressed steel

Steel baths are lighter than cast iron, but have a similar enamel surface. Exposed steel rusts fast, especially around the waste, so repair chips early.

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour-matched, just like other baths.

Why repair rather than replace?

A new bath brings a chain of other jobs: the tiles sitting on the rim tend to break, the panel may not fit the new one, and a plumber has to disconnect and reconnect everything. A repair skips all of it.

Questions to ask before booking

  • How long it needs to cure
  • Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price
  • Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT
  • How changes to the job are handled

What affects the price in DG2

Prices start from £95. Each job gets its own fixed price. These are the things that affect it:

  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • What the surface is made of
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear

There are no surprise extras on the day. What we quote from your photos is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Send pictures for a quote

Two or three clear photos are generally enough. It helps if you send:

  • One picture of the entire bath
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • Any details about the material

We price from pictures so you do not have to wait in for a survey. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

DG2 questions

How long does the repair take to cure?

Typically within a day, depending on the repair.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Typically, when the rest is in good condition. A repair avoids removal and making good. If replacing would be better, we’ll say so.

How much does bath repair cost in DG2?

Prices start from £95. Every job gets a fixed quote from your photos. Send a close-up and a photo of the whole item with your DG2 postcode.

Can rust on a bath be repaired?

Yes. We take out the rust and any loose enamel, seal and fill the area, then colour-match the finish.

Can you price it without visiting?

Nearly always. We only ask to see it in person if the photos cannot show what we need.

Something went through my bath. Can it be fixed?

Usually, yes, if we can reach behind it. We back the hole, fill it and refinish the surface.

Are there extra charges for DG2?

We don’t add a call-out fee. The fixed quote covers the visit and the work.
