Bath re-enamelling for Crownthorpe homes

When to call us in Crownthorpe

Hard water speeds up the wear, and abrasive cleaners do the most damage.

Typical reasons for a call-out include:

  • Wear marks under the taps
  • A bath in a colour that no longer suits
  • An original cast iron bath that needs restoring
  • Staining under the taps and around the waste

What to look for in a quote

  • How the colour is matched
  • Who turns up on the day
  • The length of the guarantee and what it covers
  • How soon you can use it again

How we handle bath re-enamelling in Crownthorpe

After cleaning, repairing and priming, we spray on the new finish. The preparation is what makes it last, so we do not cut corners on it. We work on cast iron baths, acrylic baths and Victorian roll-tops, and people most often call us about stains that won’t shift and a coloured bath you want in white.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you’re covered after the visit.

Repairing versus replacing in Crownthorpe

Replacement only makes sense in a few cases: a cracked-through bath, a change of size or shape, or a full refit. In most other cases, resurfacing is the better choice. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Why book with us

  • One visit for most repairs
  • One-year guarantee on every repair
  • Free fixed quotes from pictures
  • Colour-matched on site

Landlords, agents and businesses in Crownthorpe

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs in Norfolk and across the UK. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which matters when someone is living in the home.

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets can’t afford rooms out of action for long, so we keep visits short and tidy. We will fit around changeovers where we can.

What we do, step by step

It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, cover and mask the work area, and get on with the job, which normally takes the best part of a day. If anything looks different from your pictures, we will talk to you before going ahead.

  1. We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
  2. Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
  3. We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
  4. Primer and finish coats are applied.
  5. The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.

Preparing for the visit

Can I fix it myself?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is normally the cheaper route.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

What we can’t put right

A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:

  • A bath split right through the body
  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
  • Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly before booking.

Materials we repair

  • Cast iron baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Victorian roll-tops

Crownthorpe: your questions answered

What happens after I send photos?

We look at the pictures and reply with a fixed price and some dates. If anything’s unclear, we’ll ask for another photo.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Generally, if the item is otherwise sound. A repair avoids removal and making good. We’ll tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

Is there a call-out fee?

There’s no separate call-out charge. Your fixed price includes everything.

Is the work guaranteed?

Every repair comes with our one-year guarantee. We’ll explain what it covers when we quote.

Can you re-enamel a roll-top bath?

Yes, roll-tops are a big part of our work. The inside is resurfaced, and we can refinish the outside as well.

Does someone need to be in?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. You do not need to watch us work.

Will the bath be moved?

No. We resurface it in place, so the tiles and taps stay put.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Just keep them out of the work area. We’ll tell you when the room can be used again.

Repairs by material

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that is the part we put right.

How to look after the repair

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. These habits help:

  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
  • Fix dripping taps quickly
  • Have chips seen to early
  • Don’t use the bath until it has fully cured

Use mild, non-abrasive cleaners, do not use suction bath mats, and keep bottles and razors off the surface.

If a previous coating is starting to peel, do not pick at it. Moisture gets underneath and makes it worse, so it’s better to have it stripped and redone.
