Your questions about bath re-enamelling in Earlsheaton

What information do you need?

A close-up, a wider photo and your postcode. Then we will agree a date.

Are you accredited?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

How do I get a price for bath re-enamelling in Earlsheaton?

Prices start from £350. Because every job differs, we price from photos. You’ll get a fixed figure before booking.

Is it messy?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and tidy up before we leave.

What happens after I send pictures?

We look at the pictures and reply with a fixed quote and some dates. If we need another angle, we’ll ask.

How long is the bath unusable?

Most baths are done in a day, ready the day after. We give you timings with the quote.

Can you re-enamel a roll-top bath?

Yes. Inside and out.

Is there a smell?

A little, during the work. We set up ventilation and the smell fades as it cures.

How to care for the repair

So the finish stays in good condition for years:

  • Store bottles off the bath
  • Do not use the bath until it has fully cured
  • Do not let dyes or oils sit on the finish
  • Keep suction mats out of the bath

Wait for the curing time we give you before the first bath. After that, a soft cloth and washing-up liquid is all it needs.

On a worn bath, rust spots keep spreading, and each one adds to the preparation. It’s simpler to resurface before they spread.

How we price bath re-enamelling

Prices start from £350. Every quote is fixed and free. What we take into account:

  • The material
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • How much damage there is
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first

Our prices are the same across the UK, so there is no premium for Earlsheaton. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Getting a price from pictures

You can generally get a fixed price without us visiting. To help us price it:

  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • One sharp close-up of the damage

Send us pictures of the damage and one of the whole item, and tell us you are in Earlsheaton, and we’ll come back with a fixed quote.

Should you replace it?

A replacement often means several trades over several days. Resurfacing takes one technician and normally a day, and the bath is usable the day after. Prices start from £350. What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed price from your pictures, so you know the cost before you book.

How to compare quotes

How it works

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and get going once we have agreed what we are doing. Most jobs take the best part of a day, and you can get on with other things while we are there.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Make sure the area is dry
  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Clear the area around the damage

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that is the part we put right.

Can I fix it myself?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is usually the cheaper route.

What a repair cannot fix

We won’t take on work that will not last, so these are the limits:

  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it
  • A bath split right through the body
  • Acrylic that moves when you stand in it

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before you book.
