DIY repairs versus a professional job

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, ensure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

Aftercare tips

A little care keeps the finish looking good. We recommend:

  • Wash away dyes and oils after use
  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
  • Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it
  • Keep toiletries on a shelf rather than in the bath

Wait for the curing time we give you before the first bath. Then, gentle cleaning with a soft cloth is enough.

If a previous coating is starting to peel, do not pick at it. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so it’s better to have it stripped and redone.

What your bath is made of matters

Pressed steel

Pressed steel baths take a new finish well, as long as any rust is dealt with first. Steel frequently rusts by the plughole, so we check it carefully.

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it relies on good support. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

For landlords and businesses

Hospitality businesses need rooms back in use quickly, so we keep visits short and tidy. We can work around your bookings.

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, fixing chips and scratches before handover so nothing needs replacing. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

What we can’t put right

Before booking, it’s worth knowing the limits:

  • Steel that has corroded right through
  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer.

  • Acrylic baths
  • Pressed steel baths

Why repair rather than replace?

A new bath means a plumber, lifting out the old bath, making good the walls and tiles and days without a bathroom. Re-enamelling gives the bath a new finish with the bath left where it is. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Compared with replacing, a repair is normally a fraction of the price, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

What you get with us

  • Same prices wherever you are
  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • Most jobs done in one visit
  • Free fixed quotes from pictures

What we do, step by step

The work is clean and fairly quiet, so you can stay at home while we’re there. We protect the area first, then the work takes most of the day. Before we leave, we explain the curing time and the aftercare.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure.

How to prepare

  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive

How to get a price

A quote takes minutes to ask for: photograph the damage, then the whole bath, add your postcode and send them to us. You will get a fixed quote, not an estimate.

Advice

How we price bath re-enamelling

Prices start from £350. We do not charge extra for travel to Earlswood. The price comes down to:

  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • What the surface is made of
  • How much damage there is

A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send pictures and you will get a fixed figure.

Send photos for a quote

You can normally get a fixed price without us visiting. To help us price it:

  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • Any details about the material
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • Something in shot to show the size

Upload a picture of the damage and a wider shot of the whole item, and tell us you’re in Earlswood, and we’ll reply with a fixed price.

In most cases, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. If it isn’t worth repairing, we’ll tell you.

Do you work in Earlswood?

Yes. We work across the UK and come to Earlswood and the rest of Surrey. Send photos and we’ll quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Can landlords book you?

Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as homeowners in Earlswood.

Can a failed resurfacing be redone?

Yes, we do this regularly. Removing the old finish takes extra time, which we include in the price.

Do you need to take the bath out?

No. It’s re-enamelled where it stands, so nothing else is disturbed.

Can you do the outside of a roll-top?

Yes. We can do the inside and outside if you’d like.

What if the damage is worse than the photos show?

If we find something the photos didn’t show, we explain it first. The price only changes if you agree.
