Materials and what they mean for the repair
Roll-top and period baths
We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.
Cast iron
Re-enamelling suits cast iron baths perfectly. The body lasts for generations; only the enamel wears, so a new finish makes them look new again.
Bath re-enamelling at your home in Earsham
Many of the baths we re-enamel are period roll-tops, which are heavy, hard to move and costly to replace. Resurfacing them in place keeps the original bath. Whether it’s an outdated colour you’d like to change and enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough, we can normally put it right, on basins & shower trays, pressed steel baths and Victorian roll-tops alike.
Every job is backed for twelve months. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

The process
A typical visit goes like this: we arrive at the agreed slot, protect everything around the work area, do the job and clear up. Plan for a full day. Before we go, we’ll explain when it can be used and how to care for it.
- We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
- We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
- We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
- The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
- The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure.
Preparing for the visit

Repair or replace: which is better?
Replacing the bath means a plumber, lifting out the old bath, making good the walls and tiles and days without a bathroom. Re-enamelling renews the whole surface with the bath left where it is. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Rather than charging by the hour, we fix the price before we start. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and doing several items at once reduces it.

FAQs for Earsham
Can landlords book you?
Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as householders.
Someone resurfaced my bath and it’s peeling. Can you help?
In most cases. We strip the failing coating and resurface it properly. Tell us about it when you ask for a quote.
How long does re-enamelling last?
A well-prepared finish lasts a long time if it’s looked after. Gentle cleaning, no suction mats.
Is my repair covered?
Yes: twelve months. If there’s a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.
Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?
Normally, when the rest is in good condition. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. We will tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.
Can you make a coloured bath white?
Yes. Coloured baths can be resurfaced in white, and the basin and toilet can be done too.
How long will the bath be out of use?
One day for most baths and can be used the day after. We give you timings with the quote.
Are you accredited?
We’re accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.
Looking after it afterwards
Once the work has cured, treat it gently:
- Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
- Do not leave a chip unrepaired
- Don’t leave bottles, razors or sponges standing on the surface
- Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
Use mild, non-abrasive cleaners, avoid suction bath mats, and do not leave bottles or razors standing on the surface.
Avoid scrubbing a dull bath with abrasive cleaners. It removes more of the surface and makes resurfacing more work.

Signs you need bath re-enamelling in Earsham
Enamel wears gradually. Years of cleaning, hard water and hot baths dull the surface, starting where water runs and sits.
If you can see any of these, send us a photo:
- A period or roll-top bath worth keeping
- A peeling or bubbling previous coating
- Stains that will not shift
- Lots of chips and rust spots

Should I try a DIY kit first?
If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.
The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, and the work is guaranteed.
Work for landlords and builders
We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Just send pictures, the address and how to get access.
Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, fixing chips and scratches before handover. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.
What a repair cannot fix
Before booking, it’s worth knowing the limits too:
- Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
- A bath split right through the body
- A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up
Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly.
