Bath re-enamelling for Ellen's Green homes

How we handle bath re-enamelling in Ellen's Green

We re-enamel plenty of period and roll-top baths, which would be difficult and expensive to replace. Resurfacing them in place keeps the original bath. Whether it’s stains that won’t shift and an outdated colour you’d like to change, we can help, on basins & shower trays, cast iron baths and acrylic baths alike.

We guarantee the work for a year. If there is a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

Common questions in Ellen's Green

Do you work in Ellen's Green?

We do. Repair technicians travel to Ellen's Green from across the region, with no extra charge for travel.

Can tenants book a repair?

We are happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Get your landlord’s agreement first.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Generally, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. If it isn’t worth repairing, we’ll tell you.

Is the work guaranteed?

Yes: twelve months. If there is a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

Can you do the outside of a roll-top?

Yes, often. The inside is resurfaced, and we can refinish the outside as well.

Which areas do you work in?

Across the UK, so Ellen's Green is covered. Prices do not change with location.

How long is the bath unusable?

Normally one day, with the bath ready the next day. A badly pitted bath can need a second day.

Do you charge for travel?

We don’t add a call-out fee. Your fixed quote includes everything.

DIY kit or professional repair?

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, then guarantee it for a year.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

Landlord and trade work in Ellen's Green

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which is easier on the people living there.

If you manage property in Ellen's Green, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Just send pictures for each address and we’ll come back with a combined price.

Repair or replace: which is better?

Replacing a cast iron bath is a big job: they’re heavy, frequently need breaking up, and a new one is not cheap. Re-enamelling avoids all of it. Prices start from £350. What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed price from your pictures, so you know the cost before booking.

What we can’t put right

A repair isn’t always the answer, and we’ll tell you before we start. Repairs will not solve:

  • Holes rusted through the metal
  • Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)
  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think.

Surfaces we repair

  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Cast iron baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Acrylic baths
  • Pressed steel baths

What your bath is made of matters

Pressed steel

Steel baths re-enamel well, once any rust has been treated. Rust around the waste is common on steel, so we check it carefully.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that’s what we repair.

How the visit works

It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We confirm the time with you beforehand, cover and mask the work area, and get on with the job, which typically takes the best part of a day. If anything looks different from your photos, we will talk to you before going ahead.

  1. We mask and protect the room and ventilate it.
  2. The bath is cleaned, degreased and any chips or rust repaired.
  3. The surface is prepared and a bonding primer applied.
  4. Several coats of new finish are sprayed on.
  5. The bath is left to cure and can generally be used the next day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Point us to the nearest place to park

Looking after it afterwards

It’s all simple stuff, just a few sensible habits:

  • Do not let dyes or oils sit on the finish
  • Repair dripping taps early
  • Don’t use the bath until it has fully cured
  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent

Treat the new finish gently at first: give it the full curing time, then clean it gently. From then on, avoid abrasives and suction mats.

Worn enamel only gets rougher with time, and rust spots spread under the surface. Resurfacing sooner means less repair work first.
