Bath re-enamelling for Walliswood homes

Bath re-enamelling in Walliswood, done in place

Resurfacing renews the whole surface of the bath without a refit. It’s the answer when the entire bath is tired rather than one spot. Our repair technicians work on Victorian roll-tops, basins & shower trays and cast iron baths, and people most often call us about thin, worn enamel in places and a peeling or bubbling previous coating.

We guarantee the work for a year. If there is a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

Should you replace it?

Getting a cast iron bath out is hard work: it’s very heavy, may need breaking up, and the replacement can be costly. Re-enamelling avoids all of it. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed quote from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

Why us?

  • Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface
  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • Fixed prices from your photos
  • Work done at your home or business

What bath re-enamelling costs

Prices start from £350. Every quote is fixed and free. What we take into account:

  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • How hard the colour is to match

We don’t add extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Getting a price from pictures

Phone photos are fine, there’s no need for anything special. Just ensure we can see:

  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • Any details about the material

The quickest way to a price is to send a couple of photos through our quote form or call us. We’ll say immediately if a repair is the right fix.

What a repair cannot fix

It helps to know what we can’t do too:

  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
  • A cast iron or steel bath that is cracked right through
  • Steel that has corroded right through

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before you book.

What we work on

  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Acrylic baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Cast iron baths
  • Pressed steel baths

DIY kit or professional repair?

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it does not stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

Repairs by material

Acrylic

Acrylic baths can be resurfaced too, using a system that bonds to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot.

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

Keeping it looking good

Nothing complicated is needed:

  • Avoid suction-cup mats
  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
  • Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs straight away
  • Have chips seen to early

Wait for the curing time we give you before the first bath. Then, gentle cleaning with a soft cloth is enough.

The longer worn enamel is left, the rougher it gets, and rust spots spread under the surface. Resurfacing sooner means less repair work first.

Your questions about bath re-enamelling in Walliswood

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Yes. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Yes, as long as they stay out of the room we are working in. We will tell you when the room can be used again.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Generally, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. We’ll be honest if it’s not worth it.

Can you quote from photos?

Nearly always. If photos do not show enough, we will ask for another angle.

Is there a smell?

Some odour is normal while we spray, so we ventilate the room. It fades as the coating cures.

What does bath re-enamelling cost?

Resurfacing from £350. The exact price depends on the damage, so we quote from pictures. You will get a fixed figure before booking.

Will the new finish last?

Care for it and it lasts. Gentle cleaning, no suction mats.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Typically, yes. We remove the old repair before doing a new one, so let us know about it.

How the visit works

Expect a friendly, tidy visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, cover and mask the work area, and get on with the job, which generally takes most of the day. If we find something your photos didn’t show, we’ll explain it before carrying on.

  1. We mask and protect the room and ventilate it.
  2. The bath is cleaned, degreased and any chips or rust repaired.
  3. We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
  4. Several coats of new finish are sprayed on.
  5. We leave it to cure, and it’s generally ready the day after.

Preparing for the visit

  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Ensure the area is dry
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
