About our bath re-enamelling in Embo
Cast iron, steel, acrylic, roll-top and period baths can all be resurfaced. The finish is sprayed on in several coats over a bonding primer, once the bath has been cleaned, repaired and prepared. Common call-outs are for staining under the taps and around the waste and a coloured bath you want in white, across basins & shower trays, cast iron baths and acrylic baths.
The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If something is not right in that time, we come back and put it right.

Looking after it afterwards
Once the work has cured, treat it gently:
- Don’t use the bath until it has fully cured
- Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners
- Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs straight away
- Get any chip repaired quickly
Wipe the bath dry after use where you can, particularly with hard water, and rinse off any bath products.
Leave a peeling coating alone. Moisture gets underneath and makes it worse, so have it stripped and resurfaced.
How it works
Expect a friendly, tidy visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, protect the area, then carry out the work, which typically takes most of the day. If anything looks different from your pictures, we will talk to you before going ahead.
- The room is masked, protected and ventilated.
- We clean and degrease the bath and repair any chips or rust.
- We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
- We spray several coats of new enamel finish.
- The bath is left to cure and can typically be used the day after.
Preparing for the visit
- Keep a parking space free if you can
- Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
- Clear the area around the damage
Getting a price
Getting a price is easy: snap the damage close up and then the entire item, send them to us with your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote. Quotes are free and you are under no obligation.

What bath re-enamelling costs
Resurfacing from £350. A fixed quote means you know the cost before booking. We take into account:
- Doing more than one item at once
- Access to the area
- How much damage there is
- How hard the colour is to match
Rather than charging by the hour, we price the entire job up front. Damage, material and access decide it.
Getting a price from photos
When you take your photos, a few simple things make all the difference:
- The postcode, so we can plan the visit
- Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
- Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
- A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
If you are in Embo and want a price, the easiest route is photos: one close up, one from further back, plus your postcode. You will get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.
For landlords and businesses
Rental properties take more wear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.
For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover. We can visit several plots in one trip.
Repair or replace: which is better?
Getting a cast iron bath out is hard work: they’re heavy, frequently need breaking up, and a new one isn’t cheap. Re-enamelling avoids all of it. Prices start from £350. A repair usually costs much less than people expect, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

Repairs by material
Roll-top and period baths
We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.
Pressed steel
Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.
What we can’t put right
In fairness, some problems need a different fix:
- Leaks from fittings rather than the bath
- A bath split right through the body
- A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up
If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think before booking.
What we work on
- Cast iron baths
- Acrylic baths
- Basins & shower trays
- Victorian roll-tops
- Pressed steel baths
DIY repairs versus a professional job
We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.
If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.
