Bath re-enamelling in Emley

How we price bath re-enamelling

Resurfacing from £350. Prices are worked out job by job, from your photos. The main factors are:

  • How much damage there is
  • The material and finish
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • What kind of damage it is

Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Emley. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Getting a price from pictures

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what to send:

  • A wider photo showing the entire bath
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Natural light rather than flash

Pricing is simple: snap the damage close up and then the entire item, send them over with your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price. Quotes are free and you are under no obligation.

Bath re-enamelling at your home in Emley

We do not move the bath, so the taps, tiles and plumbing aren’t touched. It normally takes one visit, and can be used again the day after. We work on pressed steel baths, acrylic baths and cast iron baths, and the jobs we see most are an outdated colour you’d like to change and a period or roll-top bath worth keeping.

You are covered after we leave: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we will explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

Repairing versus replacing in Emley

Replacement only makes sense in a few cases: a cracked-through bath, a change of size or shape, or a full refit. Otherwise, resurfacing usually wins. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send pictures and you will get a fixed figure.

What your bath is made of matters

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are the classic candidate for re-enamelling. They’re built to last, and only the surface wears, so a new finish makes them look new again.

What we do, step by step

We agree an arrival time beforehand, so you are not left guessing. On site, it takes a full day for most jobs. The room is left tidy and you will know when it can be used.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures until the following day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Ensure the area is dry
  • Clear the area around the damage

You don’t need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote.

DIY kit or professional repair?

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

Your questions about bath re-enamelling in Emley

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Of course, and it generally saves money. Just add the extra items to your pictures and you will get one combined price.

What if the damage is worse than the photos show?

The price is fixed for what the pictures show. Anything extra is discussed before we begin.

Will it make a mess?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and we clean up when we have finished.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Many landlords are happy for a repair to be arranged.

Which areas do you work in?

Everywhere in the UK, Emley included. Travel is included in the price.

How long does re-enamelling last?

A well-prepared finish lasts a long time if it’s looked after. Gentle cleaning, no suction mats.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Yes, regularly. Removing the old work can add time, and that is in the quote.

Do I need to be at home?

We need someone to let us in. After that, you can carry on with your day.

When to call us in Emley

Previous coatings can fail too, peeling around the waste or bubbling. Failing coatings are stripped back before we resurface.

Signs it’s time to call us include:

  • Chips and rust in more than one place
  • Thin, worn enamel in places
  • An old resurfacing that is failing
  • An original cast iron bath that needs restoring

10 questions to ask before you book

Keeping it looking good

How the surface is treated afterwards matters. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners
  • Fix dripping taps quickly
  • Do not leave a chip unrepaired
  • Don’t use the bath until it has fully cured

A quick rinse and wipe after use helps, particularly where water is hard, so limescale can’t build up.

Rust spots on a worn bath get worse with time and make the job bigger. It’s simpler to resurface before they spread.

For landlords and businesses
