Bath re-enamelling in Felindre

About our bath re-enamelling in Felindre

Many of the baths we re-enamel are period roll-tops, which would be difficult and expensive to replace. Resurfacing them in place keeps the original bath. If you’re dealing with a coloured bath you want in white and a bath that stays dull however much you clean it, we can generally put it right.

All our work is covered by our one-year guarantee, wherever you are in Ceredigion.

How to look after the repair

Looking after the surface is easy, and it makes a real difference:

  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
  • Keep toiletries on a shelf rather than in the bath
  • Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs right away

Wait for the curing time we give you before the first bath. After that, a soft cloth and washing-up liquid is all it needs.

Worn enamel only gets rougher with time, and any rust spreads underneath. Resurfacing sooner means less repair work first.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

Signs you need bath re-enamelling in Felindre

The gloss on enamel is thin, and every scrub with an abrasive cleaner takes a little away. After years of use, the surface becomes porous and stains easily.

Typical reasons for a call-out include:

  • Stains that won’t shift
  • Several chips and rust patches
  • A coating lifting around the plughole
  • A bath that stays dull however much you clean it

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it relies on good support. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

Pressed steel

Pressed steel baths take a new finish well, as long as any rust is dealt with first. Steel often rusts by the plughole, so we pay close attention there.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Felindre

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Felindre as well as homeowners. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it usually costs far less than a refit.

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which is easier on the people living there.

FAQs for Felindre

Do you do work for letting agents?

Yes. We carry out repairs for homeowners, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses in Felindre.

Can you change the colour of my bath?

Yes, most people go for white. Mention the colour you want when you send photos.

Can you fix a peeling bath coating?

In most cases. We strip the failing coating and resurface it properly. Mention it when you send pictures.

Can you price it without visiting?

Usually, yes. Clear pictures let us give you a fixed quote without visiting.

What do you need from me?

Photos of the damage, a photo of the entire bath and your postcode. After that, we just agree a date.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Of course, and it generally saves money. Just add the extra items to your pictures and we will quote them together.

Will it make a mess?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and we clean up when we have finished.

How long does re-enamelling last?

It depends on preparation, use and care. Properly prepared and looked after, it lasts well, and our work is guaranteed for a year.

What a repair cannot fix

We won’t take on work that will not last, so these are the limits:

  • Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber
  • A cast iron or steel bath that’s cracked right through
  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think before you book.

Materials we repair

  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Cast iron baths

Repair or replace: which is better?

If the bath is sound, re-enamelling is typically much cheaper than replacing it, when you count removal, plumbing, tiling and decorating. It’s also far quicker. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. You will see the full price before you book, with no extras added later.

Why us?

  • Fixed prices from your pictures
  • Colour-matched on site
  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish

What happens on the day

We work cleanly and quietly, so you can stay at home while we’re there. Protection goes down first, then the job itself takes most of the day. Before we leave, we explain how soon it can be used and how to care for it.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure until the following day.
