How we handle bath re-enamelling in Fenay Bridge

When a bath is structurally fine but worn out on the surface, re-enamelling is typically the most cost-effective option. It avoids removal, plumbing and re-tiling. We are often asked to fix enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough and a peeling or bubbling previous coating, in acrylic baths, basins & shower trays and cast iron baths.

Peace of mind is built in: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we explain what it covers before you book.

Different materials, different repairs

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are the classic candidate for re-enamelling. The body lasts for generations; only the enamel wears, so a new finish makes them look new again.

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it relies on good support. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

What we can’t put right

We won’t take on work that will not last, so here’s what a repair can’t put right:

  • Leaks from fittings rather than the bath
  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
  • A cast iron or steel bath that’s cracked right through

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think.

Surfaces we repair

  • Basins & shower trays
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Acrylic baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Cast iron baths

Should you replace it?

A refit takes several trades and several days. Re-enamelling takes one technician and generally one day, with the bath ready the day after. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

What you get with us

  • No extra charge for your area
  • Generally one visit, start to finish
  • We leave the room as we found it

Can I fix it myself?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is usually the cheaper route.

Keeping it looking good

So the finish stays in good condition for years:

  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
  • Avoid suction-cup mats
  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
  • Repair dripping taps early

The first few days matter most: let it cure fully, then use mild cleaners only. From then on, avoid abrasives and suction mats.

Leave a peeling coating alone. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so it’s better to have it stripped and redone.

Landlord and trade work in Fenay Bridge

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Fenay Bridge as well as householders. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it costs much less than replacing.

The process

Arrival times are agreed in advance, so you’re not left guessing. On site, it takes the best part of a day. We leave the room clean.

  1. First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
  2. Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
  3. We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
  4. Primer and finish coats are applied.
  5. The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.

Getting ready for the visit
