How we handle bath re-enamelling in Finchampstead
Resurfacing renews the entire surface of the bath without taking anything out. It suits baths that are dull, stained, rough or chipped all over. We regularly repair Victorian roll-tops, acrylic baths and basins & shower trays, and the jobs we see most are an old resurfacing that’s failing and a bath that stays dull however much you clean it.
We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee.

Common questions in Finchampstead
Do I need to be at home?
Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time we agree with you.
Can you repair several things at once?
Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Include photos of each item.
Can you do the outside of a roll-top?
Yes, roll-tops are a big part of our work. The inside is resurfaced, and we can refinish the outside as well.
How do I book?
Photos of the damage, a photo of the entire bath and your postcode. Then we’ll agree a date.
Is there a smell?
There is some smell while the coating is applied, which is why we ventilate the bathroom. It fades as the coating cures.
How long does re-enamelling take?
One day for most baths, ready the day after. We’ll confirm timings when we quote.
Do you work in Finchampstead?
We do. We send a technician to Finchampstead for every job, with no extra charge for travel.
What happens once I’ve sent photos?
We review the pictures and send a fixed quote and the next dates we have.

Work for landlords and builders
We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which is easier on the people living there.
Letting agents frequently send us pictures straight from the inventory. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.
How the visit works
Nothing needs to be moved out of the room beforehand. We bring everything we need with us, lay protective sheets and get going once we have agreed what we’re doing. Most jobs take a full day, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.
- We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
- Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
- We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
- Primer and finish coats are applied.
- The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.
How to prepare
- Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
- Let us know if it has been repaired before
- Let us know which floor the room is on

Advice
Repair or replace: which is better?
A replacement frequently means several trades over several days. Resurfacing takes one technician and normally a day, with the bath back in use the next day. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. The price depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed quote from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.
What you get with us

Honest limits
We would rather lose a job than do one that won’t last, so here’s what a repair can’t put right:
- Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber
- A bath split right through the body
- Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.
What we work on
- Victorian roll-tops
- Basins & shower trays
- Acrylic baths
- Cast iron baths
- Pressed steel baths
What your bath is made of matters
Cast iron
Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that is the part we put right.
Acrylic
Acrylic baths can be resurfaced too, with a coating system suited to acrylic. The bath needs to be firm and well supported for the finish to last.
Looking after it afterwards
Looking after the surface is easy:
- Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners
- Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs right away
- Don’t leave a chip unrepaired
- Keep suction mats out of the bath
The first few days matter most: let it cure fully, then use mild cleaners only. From then on, avoid abrasives and suction mats.
If a previous coating is starting to peel, don’t pick at it. Moisture gets underneath and makes it worse, so have it stripped and resurfaced.
Can I fix it myself?
You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.
For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.
Signs you need bath re-enamelling in Finchampstead
Previous coatings can fail too, peeling around the waste or bubbling. We strip what’s failing and start again.
The most common problems we are called about are:
- An old resurfacing that’s failing
- A period or roll-top bath worth keeping
- Wear marks under the taps
- A bath in a colour that no longer suits
