About our bath re-enamelling in Flitwick
If your bath is sound but looks tired, re-enamelling is generally the most cost-effective option. It avoids removal, plumbing and re-tiling. We’re often asked to fix a bath that stays dull however much you clean it and a coating lifting around the plughole, in pressed steel baths, cast iron baths and basins & shower trays.
All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months. We return to put right any problem with the work.

How we price bath re-enamelling
Prices start from £350. There is no area surcharge for Flitwick. The price reflects:
- What kind of damage it is
- The material and finish
- The size and number of damaged areas
- How hard the colour is to match
We don’t add extras on the day. What we quote from your photos is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.
Quotes from your photos
It only takes a minute to photograph the damage, and it saves a visit. Please include:
- A wider photo showing the entire bath
- Where you are, by postcode
- Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
- Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
Most customers in Flitwick get their price from photos. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we’ll send back a fixed quote and some dates.

FAQs for Flitwick
How durable is a resurfaced bath?
A well-prepared finish lasts a long time if it’s looked after. Avoid abrasive cleaners and suction mats.
Can you change the colour of my bath?
Yes, white is the usual choice. Mention the colour you want when you send photos.
Is it messy?
We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and tidy up before we leave.
Are you accredited?
We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.
Can you do the outside of a roll-top?
Yes. Inside and out.
When can you do it?
Your quote comes with available dates. Tell us if you need it done quickly.
I rent my home. Can I book you?
We can work for tenants, landlords or agents. Get your landlord’s agreement first.
Do you need to take the bath out?
No, it stays where it is. Everything is done in your bathroom, with the room protected and ventilated.
Looking after it afterwards
Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. These habits help:
- Do not leave a chip unrepaired
- Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners
- Do not use the bath until it has fully cured
- Store bottles off the bath
Wait for the curing time we give you before the first bath. After that, a soft cloth and washing-up liquid is all it needs.
Do not try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It removes more of the surface and makes resurfacing more work.
Repair or replace: which is better?
For a sound bath, resurfacing costs far less than replacement, when you count removal, plumbing, tiling and decorating. It’s much quicker too. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. A repair usually costs much less than people expect, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

The process
It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We confirm the time with you beforehand, cover and mask the work area, and get on with the job, which typically takes a full day. If anything looks different from your pictures, we’ll talk to you before going ahead.
- The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
- Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
- Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
- The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
- Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures.
Getting ready for the visit
- Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
- Tell us about parking, stairs or access
- Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
Ask for a price

Can I fix it myself?
DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair won’t last.
If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.
Materials and what they mean for the repair
Pressed steel
Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.
Cast iron
Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that is the part we put right.
When we would advise against a repair
It helps to know what we can’t do too:
- Holes rusted through the metal
- Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
- Acrylic that moves when you stand in it
If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think.
Materials we repair
- Basins & shower trays
- Pressed steel baths
- Acrylic baths
- Victorian roll-tops
- Cast iron baths
