Bath re-enamelling for Forest Side homes

Why repair rather than replace?

Replacing a bath generally involves a plumber, a fitter and a tiler. Re-enamelling takes one technician and usually one day, and the bath can be used the day after. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. The price depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed price from your photos, so you know the cost before you book.

Why book with us

  • Honest advice, even when it means no job
  • We leave the room as we found it

Bath re-enamelling in Forest Side, done in place

We resurface cast iron, steel and acrylic baths, including roll-tops and period baths. Several coats of finish go on over a bonding primer, after the bath has been cleaned, repaired and keyed. If you’re dealing with a roll-top that’s seen better days and a peeling or bubbling previous coating, we can help, whatever the material.

Peace of mind is built in: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we’ll explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

Forest Side: your questions answered

When can you do it?

Your quote comes with available dates. If it’s urgent, say so and we’ll do what we can.

Can you quote from photos?

In nearly every case. If pictures do not show enough, we’ll ask for another angle.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Many landlords are happy for a repair to be arranged before the end of a tenancy.

How long does re-enamelling last?

A well-prepared finish lasts a long time if it’s looked after. Avoid abrasive cleaners and suction mats.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Normally, yes. We remove the old repair before doing a new one.

Can landlords book you?

Yes, frequently. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit usually costs less than separate visits. Send pictures of everything you’d like done.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Normally, if the item is otherwise sound. A repair avoids removal and making good. If replacing would be better, we will say so.

Looking after it afterwards

Aftercare is simple, and it makes a real difference:

  • Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas
  • Do not let dyes or oils sit on the finish
  • Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners
  • Do not use the bath until it has fully cured

Treat the new finish gently at first: give it the full curing time, then clean it gently. From then on, avoid abrasives and suction mats.

The longer worn enamel is left, the rougher it gets, and rust spots spread under the surface. Acting earlier keeps the preparation simpler.

When we would advise against a repair

In fairness, there are a few things a repair won’t fix:

  • Acrylic that moves when you stand in it
  • A bath split right through the body
  • Leaks from fittings rather than the bath

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think.

Materials we repair

  • Acrylic baths
  • Cast iron baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Basins & shower trays

What your bath is made of matters

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are the classic candidate for re-enamelling. The body lasts for generations; only the enamel wears, so a new finish makes them look new again.

Acrylic

Acrylic baths can be resurfaced too, with a coating system suited to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot for the finish to last.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, and give it the full curing time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair won’t last.

What affects the price in Forest Side

Prices start from £350. A fixed quote means you know the cost before booking. We look at:

  • The material and finish
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • The type of damage
  • The size and number of damaged areas

Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Forest Side. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Quotes from your photos

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what we need:

  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • Details of any past repairs
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates

Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us photos through the quote form. With one close-up and one wider picture, we can price the job without visiting.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Forest Side

Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, putting right damage done during fitting so nothing needs replacing. We’re CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover, so there is no need to replace a damaged item at the last minute. We can visit several plots in one trip to keep costs down.

How the visit works

We turn up when we said we would and looks over the damage before anything else. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before we open a single tin. The work itself takes the best part of a day, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. First we protect the bathroom and set up ventilation.
  2. We clean and degrease the bath and repair any chips or rust.
  3. We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
  4. Several coats of new finish are sprayed on.
  5. Once cured, normally by the next day, the bath is ready.

How to prepare

  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Ensure the room can be ventilated
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
