Bath re-enamelling across Isle of Wight: what to expect
Cast iron, steel, acrylic, roll-top and period baths can all be resurfaced. Several coats of finish go on over a bonding primer, after the bath has been cleaned, repaired and keyed. We’re often asked to fix an old resurfacing that’s failing and a coloured bath you want in white, on acrylic baths, cast iron baths and Victorian roll-tops.
Your technician turns up when we said we would and checks the damage against your pictures first. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before any work starts. The work itself takes most of the day, and the room is left clean and tidy.
- We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
- Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
- We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
- Primer and finish coats are applied.
- We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.
Pricing in Isle of Wight
Prices start from £350. There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Different materials, different repairs
Pressed steel
Steel baths re-enamel well, as long as any rust is dealt with first. Steel often rusts by the plughole, so we check it carefully.
Roll-top and period baths
We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.
Why repair rather than replace?
When the bathroom is fine apart from the bath’s finish, re-enamelling is the least disruptive fix. Tiles, panels and taps stay put.
What your quote should include
- How your room will be protected
- What the guarantee covers, and for how long
- What happens if the damage is worse than the photos show
- What prep work is covered
How to care for the repair
So the finish stays in good condition for years:
- Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs straight away
- Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners
- Have chips seen to early
- Fix dripping taps quickly
Use mild, non-abrasive cleaners, don’t use suction bath mats, and do not leave bottles or razors standing on the surface.
If a previous coating is starting to peel, don’t pick at it. Moisture gets underneath and makes it worse, so it’s better to have it stripped and redone.
When a repair isn’t the answer
It helps to know what we can’t do:
- A metal bath with a through crack
- Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)
- Acrylic that moves when you stand in it
What bath re-enamelling costs
Resurfacing from £350. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price is based on:
- How hard the colour is to match
- Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
- How many areas need work
- How easy the damage is to reach
No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.
Send pictures for a quote
Phone photos are fine. Ensure they show:
- Where you are, by postcode
- One picture of the entire bath
- The material, if you know it
- Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
The quickest way to a price is to send two or three pictures using our quote form or ring us. We’ll tell you honestly if a repair is the right fix.
Isle of Wight questions
How durable is a resurfaced bath?
A well-prepared finish lasts a long time if it’s looked after. Gentle cleaning, no suction mats.
Do you come to Isle of Wight?
Yes, we do. We send a technician to Isle of Wight for every job, with no extra charge for travel.
Can you quote from photos?
Nearly always. We only ask to see it in person if the pictures can’t show what we need.
Can you repair something that is been repaired before?
In most cases. The old repair comes out first.
Is repairing better than replacing?
Usually, when the rest is in good condition. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. We will tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.
Can you make a coloured bath white?
Yes. Coloured baths can be resurfaced in white, and the basin and toilet can be done too.
What happens next?
You’ll get a fixed quote back, normally with dates to choose from. There’s no obligation to book.
