About our bath re-enamelling in Friday Street

Many of the baths we re-enamel are period roll-tops, which would be difficult and expensive to replace. Doing them in place keeps an original feature. We regularly repair pressed steel baths, basins & shower trays and Victorian roll-tops, and people most often call us about a peeling or bubbling previous coating and an original cast iron bath that needs restoring.

Peace of mind is built in: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we will explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

Friday Street: your questions answered

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes, often. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

Do you come to Friday Street?

We do. We send a technician to Friday Street for every job, and the price is the same as everywhere else.

How soon can you come?

We will give you dates with your quote. Tell us if you need it done quickly.

Can you make a coloured bath white?

Yes. Coloured baths can be resurfaced in white, and we can do the rest of the suite as well.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Landlords are often glad to have it sorted before the end of a tenancy.

What happens next?

You will get a fixed quote back, plus dates. You’re under no obligation.

Will the price change on the day?

The price is fixed for what the photos show. Anything extra is discussed before we begin.

Can you quote from pictures?

Yes, almost always. Clear pictures let us give you a fixed quote without visiting.

Common problems we fix in Friday Street

Enamel’s shine is only skin deep, and abrasive cleaning slowly wears it away. After years of use, the surface becomes porous and stains easily.

Signs it’s time to call us include:

  • Staining under the taps and around the waste
  • A coating lifting around the plughole
  • A period or roll-top bath worth keeping
  • A dull, rough surface that won’t come clean

Choosing a repair company

Different materials, different repairs

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that’s what we repair.

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

What happens on the day

Arrival times are agreed in advance, so you are not left guessing. Once we are there, the work takes most of the day in most cases. We leave the room clean and you will know when it can be used.

  1. We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
  2. Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
  3. We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
  4. We apply the primer and then the finish coats.
  5. We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.

Prices and what affects them

Resurfacing from £350. We price every job individually. What matters most is:

  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • The colour and finish to match
  • What kind of damage it is
  • How easy the damage is to reach

A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Send photos for a quote

Phone pictures are fine, there is no need for anything special. Make sure they show:

  • One picture of the entire bath
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • Where you are, by postcode

A quote takes minutes to ask for: photograph the damage, then the entire bath, include your postcode and send them to us. What comes back is a fixed quote, not a guess.

For landlords and businesses

Builders use us to fix snagging damage before handover, so there’s no need to replace a damaged item at the last minute. Several plots can be done in one visit to keep costs down.

Letting agents frequently send us pictures straight from the inventory. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

When we would advise against a repair

We’ll always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair can’t fix:

  • A cast iron or steel bath that’s cracked right through
  • Problems we can’t see until an old finish comes off
  • A bath that is rusted through

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think before booking.

What we work on

  • Basins & shower trays
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Cast iron baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Acrylic baths

Why repair rather than replace?

For a sound bath, resurfacing costs far less than replacement, once you add removal, plumbing, tiling and decorating to the price of a new bath. It’s also far quicker. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. A repair generally costs much less than people expect, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

What you get with us

  • Accredited with CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor
  • A year’s guarantee on all work
  • Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface
  • Fixed prices from your photos

Keeping it looking good

So the finish stays in good condition:

  • Never use suction bath mats
  • Fix dripping taps quickly
  • Don’t use the bath until it has fully cured
  • Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners

Treat the new finish gently at first: give it the full curing time, then clean it gently. From then on, avoid abrasives and suction mats.

Worn enamel only gets rougher with time, and rust spots spread under the surface. Acting earlier keeps the preparation simpler.
