Bath re-enamelling for Gillingham homes

About our bath re-enamelling in Gillingham

If your bath is sound but looks tired, resurfacing is normally the best value. It avoids removal, plumbing and re-tiling. Common call-outs are for a bath in a colour that no longer suits and lots of chips and rust spots, across Victorian roll-tops, cast iron baths and basins & shower trays.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months in Gillingham and everywhere else. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

Repairs by material

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that’s the part we put right.

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it needs firm support underneath. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

How to look after the repair

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. A few tips:

  • Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it
  • A quick wipe after use keeps limescale away
  • Have chips seen to early
  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent

Stick to mild, non-abrasive cleaners, don’t use suction bath mats, and keep bottles and razors off the surface.

The longer worn enamel is left, the rougher it gets, and any rust spreads underneath. Resurfacing sooner means less repair work first.

What a repair can’t fix

It helps to know what we cannot do:

  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it
  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up
  • A bath split right through the body

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think before booking.

Materials we work on in Gillingham

What happens on the day

Arrival times are agreed in advance. On site, it takes most of the day. The room is left tidy and ready to use once it has cured.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures.

Preparing for the visit

  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area

When to call us in Gillingham

Often the bath has just had decades of use. Underneath, a cast iron or steel bath is usually as strong as ever.

Send us a photo if you notice any of these:

  • An outdated colour you’d like to change
  • A dull, rough surface that won’t come clean
  • Several chips and rust patches
  • Worn patches where water runs and sits

What your quote should include

  • Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT
  • What protection goes down before work starts
  • How long it needs to cure
  • What the guarantee covers, and for how long

Questions from Gillingham

Can you make a coloured bath white?

Yes, most people go for white. Tell us what you’d like when you ask for a quote.

Are you accredited?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

Do the materials smell?

Expect a mild smell while we are working, which fades afterwards.

Will it make a mess?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we take our waste away with us.

Are there extra charges for Gillingham?

There is no separate call-out charge. The fixed price covers the visit and the work.

Can you re-enamel a roll-top bath?

Yes. We can do the inside and outside if you’d like.

Can you fix a peeling bath coating?

Yes. Stripping the old coating adds time, so it’s reflected in the quote.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Include photos of each item.

Repairing versus replacing in Gillingham

A replacement often means several trades over several days. Resurfacing takes one technician and normally a day, and the bath is usable the day after. Prices start from £350. The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before booking.

  • Honest advice, even when it means no job
  • Most jobs done in one visit
  • Free fixed quotes from pictures

How we price bath re-enamelling

Resurfacing from £350. You won’t pay by the hour. The price is based on:

  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • The material and finish
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • How hard the colour is to match

Our prices are the same across the UK, so there is no premium for Gillingham. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Getting a price from pictures

Most quotes are done from pictures alone. To make it quick:

  • One picture of the whole bath
  • The material, if you know it
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Natural light rather than flash

Most clients in Gillingham get their price from pictures. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.
