Need bath re-enamelling in Glastonbury?

What happens on the day

Your technician turns up when we said we would and looks over the damage before anything else. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before any work starts. Most visits take the best part of a day, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure.

Preparing for the visit

  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access

Bath re-enamelling at your home in Glastonbury

We re-enamel a lot of period and roll-top baths, which would be difficult and expensive to replace. Resurfacing them in place keeps the original bath. Typical jobs include an original cast iron bath that needs restoring and wear marks under the taps, on cast iron baths, basins & shower trays and acrylic baths.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you’re not left on your own once we have gone.

FAQs for Glastonbury

Someone resurfaced my bath and it’s peeling. Can you help?

In most cases. The old coating comes off before we resurface it. Mention it when you send pictures.

Is there a smell?

Yes, while we’re applying the finish. Ventilation keeps it down, and it fades as the finish cures.

What information do you need?

A close-up, a wider photo and your postcode. Then we’ll agree a date.

Do you cover the whole of Somerset?

All of Somerset, and the rest of the UK. There is no extra charge for travel.

Do you come to Glastonbury?

We do. Repair technicians travel to Glastonbury from across the region, with no extra charge for travel.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

We do, regularly. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Yes, almost always. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed quote.

How durable is a resurfaced bath?

A well-prepared finish lasts a long time if it’s looked after. Gentle cleaning, no suction mats.

Repair or replace: which is better?

If the bath is sound, re-enamelling is usually much cheaper than replacing it, once you add removal, plumbing, tiling and decorating to the price of a new bath. It’s much quicker too. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Why us?

  • A fixed quote before you book
  • A year’s guarantee on all work
  • Honest advice, even when it means no job
  • CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited

Keeping it looking good

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
  • A dripping tap should be fixed promptly
  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
  • Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs straight away

The first few days matter most: give it the full curing time, then clean it gently. From then on, avoid abrasives and suction mats.

If a previous coating is starting to peel, don’t pick at it. Moisture gets underneath and makes it worse, so it’s better to have it stripped and redone.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

What affects the price in Glastonbury

Prices start from £350. Prices are worked out job by job. What matters most is:

  • How much damage there is
  • Access to the area
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off

Rather than charging by the hour, we price the entire job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access.

Getting a price from pictures

The better the photos, the more accurate the price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Details of any past repairs

If you’re in Glastonbury and want a price, pictures are the quickest way: a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode. You’ll get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.

Different materials, different repairs

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that’s what we repair.

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

What we can’t put right

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair cannot fix:

  • Holes rusted through the metal
  • Leaks from fittings rather than the bath
  • A bath split right through the body

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.

What we work on

  • Pressed steel baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Acrylic baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Cast iron baths

A dull surface stains and holds dirt, and scrubbing it wears it down further. That’s the point where re-enamelling makes sense.

These are the problems we’re asked about most:

  • Several chips and rust patches
  • A coating lifting around the plughole
  • A coloured bath you want in white
  • Stains that won’t shift

Questions to ask before booking

  • What protection goes down before work starts
  • Whether the colour is mixed to match
  • What preparation is included
  • When it can be used again
