Bath re-enamelling near Glynde

Bath re-enamelling in Glynde, done in place

A re-enamelled bath looks and feels like a new one, without any of the disruption of replacing it. It suits anyone happy with the bathroom apart from the bath. We regularly repair acrylic baths, cast iron baths and pressed steel baths, and people most frequently call us about an original cast iron bath that needs restoring and an old resurfacing that’s failing.

A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

Keeping it looking good

Good habits make a big difference to how long a repair lasts:

  • Wash away dyes and oils after use
  • Keep suction mats out of the bath
  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
  • Do not use the bath until it has fully cured

Avoid hair dye, bath bombs and oils sitting on the surface, because they can mark the finish. Repair dripping taps promptly.

Do not try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It removes more of the surface.

Repair or replace in Glynde?

Replacing a bath generally involves a plumber, a fitter and a tiler. Resurfacing is one technician, normally in a day, with the bath ready the day after. Prices start from £350. The price depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed quote from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Acrylic

Acrylic baths can be resurfaced too, with a coating system suited to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot for the finish to last.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that’s the part we put right.

For landlords and businesses

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Glynde as well as homeowners. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it costs much less than replacing.

DIY kit or professional repair?

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it will not stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, and the work is guaranteed.

Do you need bath re-enamelling in Glynde?

Once enamel loses its gloss, it stains more easily, and cleaning harder only makes it worse. At that stage, resurfacing is the fix.

If you can see any of these, send us a photo:

  • Enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough
  • A roll-top that is seen better days
  • A coloured bath you want in white
  • Several chips and rust patches

What your quote should include

  • When it can be used again
  • What happens if they find more damage
  • Who turns up on the day
  • What prep work is covered

Our hiring checklist

Glynde: your questions answered

How quickly can you book me in?

We’ll give you dates with your quote. Tell us if you need it done quickly.

Do you work in Glynde?

We do. Technicians travel to Glynde from across the region, and the price is the same as everywhere else.

Can you change the colour of my bath?

Yes. Coloured baths can be resurfaced in white, and the basin and toilet can be done too.

Is there a smell?

Some odour is normal while we spray, which is why we ventilate the bathroom. It clears as the finish cures.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit and until it has cured. Everywhere else in the home is fine.

Do you need to take the bath out?

No, it stays where it is. We work on the bath in place, with the room protected and ventilated.

What areas do you cover?

Everywhere in the UK, Glynde included. Travel is included in the price.

Can you do the outside of a roll-top?

Yes, frequently. The inside is resurfaced, and we can refinish the outside as well.

What a repair cannot fix

We will not take on work that will not last, so here’s what a repair cannot put right:

  • A metal bath with a through crack
  • Problems we can’t see until an old finish comes off
  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer.

How it works

On the day itself, there is little for you to do. Let us in and show us the room, and we will get on with it. The job generally runs to most of the day, including clearing up.

  1. We mask and protect the room and ventilate it.
  2. Next we degrease the bath and fix chips and rust spots.
  3. The surface is prepared and a bonding primer applied.
  4. We spray on the new enamel finish in several coats.
  5. The bath is left to cure and can usually be used the next day.
