Bath re-enamelling in Gott

Bath re-enamelling in Gott without replacing anything

Resurfacing renews the whole surface of the bath without a refit. It’s the answer when the whole bath is tired rather than one spot. Typical jobs include an outdated colour you’d like to change and a peeling or bubbling previous coating, in pressed steel baths, cast iron baths and acrylic baths.

Every repair comes with a one-year guarantee, wherever you are in the Shetland Islands.

Aftercare tips

It’s all simple stuff:

  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
  • Get any chip repaired quickly
  • Keep toiletries on a shelf rather than in the bath

Avoid hair dye, bath bombs and oils sitting on the surface, as they can stain. Repair dripping taps promptly.

The longer worn enamel is left, the rougher it gets, and rust spots spread under the surface. Resurfacing sooner means less repair work first.

How the visit works

Visits start with a quick look at the job together, so you know exactly what we’re doing. Then the area is sheeted and masked and the work begins. Allow most of the day, and we will tell you if anything changes.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure until the following day.

How to prepare

  • Ensure the room can be ventilated
  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Let us know which floor the room is on

Prices and what affects them

Resurfacing from £350. We charge the same across the UK, including Gott. The price reflects:

  • Doing more than one item at once
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • What the surface is made of

No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Quotes from your photos

Phone pictures are fine, there is no need for anything special. Just make sure we can see:

  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • The material, if you know it

Send us a photo of the damage and a wider shot of the entire item, with your ZE2 postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price.

When to call us in Gott

The gloss on enamel is thin, and every scrub with an abrasive cleaner takes a little away. After years of use, the surface becomes porous and stains easily.

Keep an eye out for these signs:

  • A coating lifting around the plughole
  • An original cast iron bath that needs restoring
  • Thin, worn enamel in places
  • Several chips and rust patches

Comparing quotes

  • How the colour is matched
  • What happens if the damage is worse than the photos show
  • The length of the guarantee and what it covers
  • How the room is protected while they work

Our hiring checklist

Repairs by material

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

Pressed steel

Steel baths re-enamel well, once any rust has been treated. Steel often rusts by the plughole, so we pay close attention there.

Common questions in Gott

What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?

Your quote covers the damage in the photos. Anything extra is discussed before we begin.

Which areas do you work in?

The whole UK, including all of the Shetland Islands. Just include your postcode and we’ll offer you dates.

What happens once I’ve sent photos?

We check the damage, the material and your postcode, then reply with a quote.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes, frequently. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Generally, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.

Are you a vetted contractor?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

How long will the bath be out of use?

Normally a day, then it’s ready to use the following day. A badly pitted bath can need a second day.

Is there a guarantee?

All our work carries a one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.

What a repair can’t fix

In fairness, there are a few things a repair will not fix:

  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot
  • A bath that is rusted through
  • Leaks from fittings rather than the bath

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly.

Surfaces we repair

  • Pressed steel baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Cast iron baths
  • Basins & shower trays

Should I try a DIY kit first?

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, ensure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

For landlords and businesses

If you manage property in Gott, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Send photos for each one and we’ll come back with a combined price.

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets can’t afford rooms out of action for long, so we keep visits short and tidy. We will fit around changeovers where we can.
