Aftercare tips

It’s all simple stuff:

  • Don’t leave a chip unrepaired
  • Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners
  • Do not leave bottles, razors or sponges standing on the surface
  • Avoid suction-cup mats

Wipe the bath dry after use where you can, and rinse off any bath products.

Do not try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It removes more of the surface and makes resurfacing more work.

Bath re-enamelling in Sound, done in place

Re-enamelling is a one-day job for most baths. Nothing is disconnected or removed. Whether it’s several chips and rust patches and a period or roll-top bath worth keeping, we can normally put it right.

You’re covered for a year from the day of the repair. Just call us if there is a problem and we will come back.

Sound: your questions answered

When can you do it?

Your quote comes with available dates. If it’s urgent, say so and we will do what we can.

How much does bath re-enamelling cost in Sound?

Prices start from £350. Every job gets a fixed quote based on photos of the damage. Send a close-up of the damage and a wider photo with your ZE1 postcode.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

We’re happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Get your landlord’s agreement first.

Do you resurface freestanding baths?

Yes. We can do the inside and outside if you’d like.

Are you a vetted contractor?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

What areas do you cover?

Everywhere in the UK, Sound included. There is no extra charge for travel.

Can pets and children be at home?

Keep pets and children away from the work area on the day, mainly so nothing gets touched before it has cured.

Is there any odour?

Expect a mild smell while we are working that clears as it cures.

The process

It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, protect the area, and get on with the job, which typically takes most of the day. If we find something your pictures didn’t show, we’ll explain it before carrying on.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Open a window if you can
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Let us know about parking or access

Getting a price

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, add your postcode and send them to us. You will get a fixed price, not an estimate.

Related advice

Do you need bath re-enamelling in Sound?

Once enamel loses its gloss, it stains more easily, and cleaning harder only makes it worse. At that stage, resurfacing is the fix.

These are the problems we’re asked about most:

  • Staining under the taps and around the waste
  • Chips and rust in more than one place
  • An old resurfacing that is failing
  • Wear marks under the taps

What your bath is made of matters

Cast iron

Re-enamelling suits cast iron baths perfectly. They’re built to last, and only the surface wears, so a new finish makes them look new again.

Acrylic

We resurface acrylic baths as well, using a system that bonds to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot for the finish to last.

How we price bath re-enamelling

Resurfacing from £350. You will know the full cost before booking. We take into account:

  • The material
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • How many areas need work

Rather than charging by the hour, we price the whole job up front. Damage, material and access decide it.

Quotes from your pictures

You can generally get a fixed price without us visiting. To help us price it:

  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • Details of any past repairs

Send us a photo of the damage and one of the whole item, with your ZE1 postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price.

Repair or replace in Sound?

A new bath means a plumber, removing a heavy bath, re-tiling or making good the walls and several days without a working bathroom. Re-enamelling renews the entire surface with the bath left where it is. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed price from your pictures, so you know the cost before you book.

Why book with us

  • Work done at your home or business
  • We leave the room as we found it
  • Accredited with CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor
  • Fixed prices from your photos

See our prices page and bath cost comparison.

DIY kit or professional repair?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and give it the full curing time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is normally cheaper.

For landlords and businesses

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Send the address, photos and access details and we will handle the rest.

For anyone letting property in or around Sound, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Just send pictures for each address and we will price them together.
