Bath re-enamelling in Grantown-on-Spey

Bath re-enamelling in Grantown-on-Spey, done in place

Many of the baths we re-enamel are period roll-tops, which would be difficult and expensive to replace. Doing them in place keeps an original feature. Whether it’s wear marks under the taps and a bath in a colour that no longer suits, we can typically put it right.

You’re covered for a year from the day of the repair. If anything is not right, ring us and we’ll come back.

Common questions in Grantown-on-Spey

Can pets and children be at home?

On the day, the room should be kept clear of pets and children, mainly so nothing gets touched before it has cured.

Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?

Yes, regularly. Removing the old work can add time, and that is in the quote.

Can you change the colour of my bath?

Yes. We can resurface a coloured bath in white, and the basin and toilet can be done too.

Will the price change on the day?

Your quote covers the damage in the photos. Anything extra is discussed before we begin.

Do you resurface freestanding baths?

Yes, roll-tops are a big part of our work. The inside is resurfaced, and we can refinish the outside as well.

Do you cover Grantown-on-Spey?

Yes, we do. We send a technician to Grantown-on-Spey for every job, and the price is the same as everywhere else.

Are there extra charges for Grantown-on-Spey?

No. Our quotes include travel, with the same prices everywhere we work.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Send pictures of everything you’d like done.

Can I fix it myself?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is normally cheaper.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

How we price bath re-enamelling

Resurfacing from £350. You will know the full cost before you book. We take into account:

  • Doing more than one item at once
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • How much damage there is

Rather than charging by the hour, we price the entire job up front. Damage, material and access decide it, and doing several items at once reduces it.

Getting a price from pictures

Photographing the damage takes a minute, and it saves a visit. Try to send:

  • A wider photo showing the whole bath
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings

You don’t need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll come back to you with a fixed figure.

What we do, step by step

There is not much you need to do on the day. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we’ll get on with it. The job generally runs to most of the day, tidy-up included.

  1. First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
  2. Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
  3. We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
  4. Primer and finish coats are applied.
  5. The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.

Before we arrive

  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing

What your bath is made of matters

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that is the part we put right.

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

How to care for the repair

Most damage we see is avoidable. A few tips:

  • A dripping tap should be fixed promptly
  • Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas
  • Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it
  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent

Rinse away dyes, oils and bath bombs straight after use, because they can mark the finish. Fix dripping taps quickly.

Don’t try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It removes more of the surface and makes resurfacing more work.

For landlords and businesses

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Grantown-on-Spey as well as homeowners. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it costs much less than replacing.

We’re used to working with agents and managing companies. Send the address, photos and access details and we will arrange it.

What we can’t put right

A repair is not right for every job, including:

  • Problems we cannot see until an old finish comes off
  • Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber
  • A bath that is rusted through

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think before booking.

Surfaces we repair

  • Basins & shower trays
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Cast iron baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Victorian roll-tops

Repair or replace in Grantown-on-Spey?

When the bathroom is fine apart from the bath’s finish, resurfacing is the simplest answer. Tiles, panels and taps stay put. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.
