Bath re-enamelling in Great Carlton without replacing anything
After re-enamelling, the bath has a smooth, glossy, new-looking surface, but without the cost and upheaval of a refit. It’s ideal if you like your bathroom but not the state of the bath. Common call-outs are for an original cast iron bath that needs restoring and staining under the taps and around the waste, in basins & shower trays, acrylic baths and pressed steel baths.
The work is covered for a year after we finish. Just call us if there is a problem and we’ll come back.

Why repair rather than replace?
Getting a cast iron bath out is hard work: they’re heavy, often need breaking up, and a new one is not cheap. Re-enamelling avoids all of it. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Typical reasons for a call-out include:
- Brown or grey marks that do not clean off
- Chips and rust in more than one place
- A period or roll-top bath worth keeping
- A coating lifting around the plughole

Great Carlton: your questions answered
How do I get a price for bath re-enamelling in Great Carlton?
Prices start from £350. The exact price depends on the damage, so we quote from pictures. You’ll get a fixed figure before booking.
When can you do it?
Your quote comes with available dates. If it’s urgent, say so and we’ll do what we can.
How long does re-enamelling take?
Usually one day, with the bath ready the following day. Deeply pitted baths may need a second day.
Are there extra charges for Great Carlton?
No. Our quotes include travel, with the same prices everywhere we work.
Can you change the colour of my bath?
Yes. Coloured baths can be resurfaced in white, and we can do the rest of the suite as well.
Can tenants book a repair?
Of course. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.
Do you work in Great Carlton?
We do. Repair technicians travel to Great Carlton from across the region, and the price is the same as everywhere else.
What information do you need?
A close-up, a wider photo and your postcode. Then we’ll agree a date.

Prices and what affects them
Resurfacing from £350. You won’t pay by the hour. The price depends on:
- The material
- How many items we do on one visit
- Any earlier repairs that need removing first
- Where the damage is and how we get to it
There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.
Getting a price from pictures
Two or three clear pictures are normally enough. It helps if you send:
- The material, if you know it
- Any earlier repairs or coatings
- A close-up of the damage, in focus
- Something in shot to show the size
Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the entire bath, add your postcode and send them to us. You will get a fixed price, not an estimate.
DIY repairs versus a professional job
DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair won’t last.
For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.
Aftercare tips
Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. A few tips:
- Get any chip repaired quickly
- Respect the curing time we give you
- Keep suction mats out of the bath
- Don’t let dyes or oils sit on the finish
Rinse away dyes, oils and bath bombs straight after use, because they can mark the finish. Fix dripping taps quickly.
Avoid scrubbing a dull bath with abrasive cleaners. It just wears the enamel further and makes resurfacing more work.
Repairs by material
Pressed steel
Pressed steel baths take a new finish well, once any rust has been treated. Steel frequently rusts by the plughole, so we check it carefully.
Cast iron
A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that is what we repair.
The process
The work is clean and fairly quiet, so you can stay at home while we are there. Protection goes down first, then the work takes a full day. Before we leave, we explain how soon it can be used and how to look after it.
- We mask and protect the room and ventilate it.
- The bath is cleaned, degreased and any chips or rust repaired.
- The surface is prepared and a bonding primer applied.
- Several coats of new finish are sprayed on.
- Once cured, normally by the next day, the bath is ready.
How to prepare
- Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
- Let us know if it has been repaired before
- Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
Ask for a price
No survey visit is needed: we price from photos. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through, and we’ll come back with a fixed figure.

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think before you book.
