Bath re-enamelling in Greenhithe

For landlords and businesses

Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, putting right damage done during fitting. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Greenhithe as well as homeowners. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it costs much less than replacing.

How we handle bath re-enamelling in Greenhithe

Re-enamelling is a one-day job for most baths, with the bath ready to use the following day. Taps, tiles, panels and plumbing all stay in place. Common call-outs are for a coloured bath you want in white and a period or roll-top bath worth keeping, across Victorian roll-tops, cast iron baths and pressed steel baths.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

Different materials, different repairs

Acrylic

Acrylic baths can be resurfaced too, using a system that bonds to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot.

Pressed steel

Steel baths re-enamel well, once any rust has been treated. Rust around the waste is common on steel, so we check it carefully.

How to care for the repair

Looking after the surface is easy:

  • Never use suction bath mats
  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
  • Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners
  • Do not use the bath until it has fully cured

Rinse the bath and wipe it over after use, especially in hard water areas, so limescale can’t build up.

Do not try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It just wears the enamel further.

How it works

It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We confirm the time with you beforehand, protect the area, then carry out the work, which usually takes most of the day. If we find something your pictures didn’t show, we’ll explain it before carrying on.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures until the following day.

Before we arrive

  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Open a window if you can

Advice

Repair or replace: which is better?

Replacing a cast iron bath is a big job: they’re heavy, often need breaking up, and a new one is not cheap. Re-enamelling avoids all of it. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it.

Signs you need bath re-enamelling in Greenhithe

Frequently the bath has just had decades of use. Underneath, a cast iron or steel bath is normally as strong as ever.

It’s worth getting a quote if you see:

  • A roll-top that is seen better days
  • An outdated colour you’d like to change
  • A dull, rough surface that won’t come clean
  • Thin, worn enamel in places

What your quote should include

  • Whether the colour is mixed to match
  • What protection goes down before work starts
  • Who will actually do the work
  • Whether the price covers travel

How to compare quotes

When a repair isn’t the answer

Some jobs aren’t right for a repair, including:

  • Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)
  • A cast iron or steel bath that is cracked right through
  • Steel that has corroded right through

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly before booking.

Greenhithe: your questions answered

Does re-enamelling smell?

Some odour is normal while we spray, so we ventilate the room. It fades as the coating cures.

What do you need from me?

Send photos through the quote form or call 0345 017 0787, and we will take it from there.

Are you a vetted contractor?

We are accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

Which areas do you work in?

All of Kent, and the rest of the UK. There is no extra charge for travel.

Can you do the outside of a roll-top?

Yes. Inside and out if you’d like.

Can you fix a peeling bath coating?

Yes, we do this regularly. Removing the old finish takes extra time, which we include in the price.

Can landlords book you?

Yes. We carry out repairs for householders, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses across Kent.

Do you need to take the bath out?

No. We resurface it in place, so the tiles and taps stay put.

DIY kit or professional repair?

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, then guarantee it for a year.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair will not last.
