Bath re-enamelling in Greta Bridge, done in place

We re-enamel plenty of period and roll-top baths, which are heavy, hard to move and costly to replace. Doing them in place keeps an original feature. If you’re dealing with a dull, rough surface that won’t come clean and staining under the taps and around the waste, we can usually put it right.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months, and the guarantee is the same wherever you live. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

Do you need bath re-enamelling in Greta Bridge?

Many baths we resurface have simply been well used. Underneath, a cast iron or steel bath is generally as strong as ever.

If you can see any of these, send us a photo:

  • An old resurfacing that is failing
  • A dull, rough surface that won’t come clean
  • Wear marks under the taps
  • Brown or grey marks that do not clean off

DIY repairs versus a professional job

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair won’t last.

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, and the work is guaranteed.

What bath re-enamelling costs

Resurfacing from £350. Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we look at:

  • The colour and finish to match
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • Access to the area
  • How much damage there is

Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it.

How to get a fixed price

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what to send:

  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • Details of any past repairs

No survey visit is needed: we price from photos. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

Cast iron

Re-enamelling suits cast iron baths perfectly. The body lasts for generations; only the enamel wears, so resurfacing gives them a new life.

Repair or replace: which is better?

A replacement frequently means several trades over several days. Resurfacing takes one technician and usually a day, with the bath back in use the next day. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Why Greta Bridge customers choose us

  • CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited

What happens on the day

The work is clean and fairly quiet, so you can stay at home while we are there. We protect the area first, then the work takes the best part of a day. Before we leave, we explain how soon it can be used and how to care for it.

  1. We mask and protect the room and ventilate it.
  2. The bath is cleaned, degreased and any chips or rust repaired.
  3. The surface is prepared and a bonding primer applied.
  4. We spray several coats of new enamel finish.
  5. Once cured, normally by the day after, the bath is ready.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Let us know about parking or access

  • Steel that has corroded right through
  • A cast iron or steel bath that is cracked right through
  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think.
