Trusted bath re-enamelling in Hampole

Bath re-enamelling in Hampole, done in place

A re-enamelled bath looks and feels like a new one, without any of the disruption of replacing it. It suits anyone happy with the bathroom apart from the bath. Our technicians work on pressed steel baths, Victorian roll-tops and basins & shower trays, and the jobs we see most are a period or roll-top bath worth keeping and a coating lifting around the plughole.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you’re not left on your own once we’ve gone.

Signs you need bath re-enamelling in Hampole

Enamel’s shine is only skin deep, and every scrub with an abrasive cleaner takes a little away. After years of use, the surface becomes porous and stains easily.

People normally call us after spotting one of these:

  • A roll-top that is seen better days
  • An old resurfacing that’s failing
  • A bath in a colour that no longer suits
  • Chips and rust in more than one place

What to look for in a quote

  • Who turns up on the day
  • What happens if the damage is worse than the pictures show
  • How your room will be protected
  • How long it needs to cure

Our hiring checklist

Work for landlords and builders

Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, fixing chips and scratches before handover so nothing needs replacing. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

Letting agents frequently send us photos straight from the inventory. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

Looking after it afterwards

Looking after the surface is easy:

  • Keep suction mats out of the bath
  • A dripping tap should be fixed promptly
  • Get any chip repaired quickly
  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent

Avoid hair dye, bath bombs and oils sitting on the surface, because they can mark the finish. Repair dripping taps promptly.

Do not try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It just wears the enamel further.

What we cannot put right

We will always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair won’t do:

  • Problems we cannot see until an old finish comes off
  • Leaks from fittings rather than the bath
  • A bath that is rusted through

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think.

What we work on

  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Cast iron baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Pressed steel baths

Why repair rather than replace?

For a sound bath, resurfacing costs far less than replacement, once you add removal, plumbing, tiling and decorating to the price of a new bath. It’s much quicker too. Prices start from £350. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send pictures and you’ll get a fixed figure.

Why us?

  • Colour mixed on the day to match
  • We come to you, anywhere in the UK
  • One visit for most repairs
  • Straight answers about what a repair can do

Hampole questions

Will you leave a mess?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and we clean up when we’ve finished.

How soon can you come?

That depends on our diary for your area. We’ll offer you dates when we send your quote.

Is there a call-out fee?

We do not add a call-out fee. The fixed price covers the visit and the work.

Is there any odour?

There can be some smell while we work, so we ventilate the room. It clears as the materials cure.

Is there a smell?

Yes, while we’re applying the finish. Ventilation keeps it down, and it fades as the finish cures.

Someone resurfaced my bath and it’s peeling. Can you help?

Usually, yes. The old coating comes off before we resurface it. Tell us about it when you ask for a quote.

Do you hold any accreditations?

We are accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

Can you resurface a pink bath in white?

Yes, most people go for white. Tell us what you’d like when you ask for a quote.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

What we do, step by step

When we visit, we arrive at the time we’ve agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. Expect it to take the best part of a day. We clean up when we are done and tell you when it’s ready to use.

  1. The room is masked, protected and ventilated.
  2. We clean and degrease the bath and repair any chips or rust.
  3. The surface is prepared and a bonding primer applied.
  4. Several coats of new finish are sprayed on.
  5. We leave it to cure, and it’s usually ready the next day.

Before we arrive

  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Keep a parking space free if you can

Advice

Repairs by material

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.
