How we handle bath re-enamelling in Hastings Old Town
Re-enamelling gives a worn bath a new glossy surface without a refit. It suits baths that are dull, stained, rough or chipped all over. We’re often asked to fix a peeling or bubbling previous coating and thin, worn enamel in places, on acrylic baths, Victorian roll-tops and cast iron baths.
All our work comes with a one-year guarantee, wherever you are in East Sussex.

DIY kit or professional repair?
A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.
DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.
Different materials, different repairs
Cast iron
Re-enamelling suits cast iron baths perfectly. The body lasts for generations; only the enamel wears, so resurfacing gives them a new life.
Pressed steel
Pressed steel baths take a new finish well, as long as any rust is dealt with first. Rust around the waste is common on steel, so we check it carefully.
What affects the price in Hastings Old Town
Resurfacing from £350. We give every job a fixed price from photos. This is what makes a difference:
- What kind of damage it is
- How hard the colour is to match
- Doing more than one item at once
- How much damage there is
Rather than charging by the hour, we price the entire job up front. Damage, material and access decide it.
How to get a fixed price
Phone pictures are fine. Make sure they show:
- A clear, close picture of the problem area
- A wider photo showing the whole bath
- The material, if you know it
- Your postcode, so we can check dates
Send us photos of the damage and one of the whole item, with your TN34 postcode, and we’ll come back with a fixed quote.
Work for landlords and builders
For anyone letting property in or around Hastings Old Town, we’ll quote for several properties at once. Send photos for each one and we’ll come back with a combined price.
We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out pictures. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.
Your questions about bath re-enamelling in Hastings Old Town
Are you a vetted contractor?
Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.
Is repairing better than replacing?
Normally, when the rest is in good condition. A repair avoids removal and making good. If replacing would be better, we’ll say so.
Can you change the colour of my bath?
Yes, white is the usual choice. Tell us what you’d like when you ask for a quote.
Can you do the outside of a roll-top?
Yes, frequently. We resurface the inside, and the outside can be refinished too.
Does re-enamelling smell?
A little, during the work. Ventilation keeps it down, and it fades as the finish cures.
How soon can you come?
That depends on our diary for your area. Send photos with your postcode and we will reply with the earliest dates.
What happens once I’ve sent photos?
You get a fixed quote and available dates. If we need another angle, we’ll ask.
How long does re-enamelling take?
One day for most baths and can be used the day after. We’ll confirm timings when we quote.

Why repair rather than replace?
Replacement only makes sense in a few cases: if the bath is cracked through, if you want a different size or shape, or if you’re refitting the whole room anyway. In most other cases, resurfacing is the better choice. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. A repair generally costs much less than people expect, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Photos let us give you the exact figure.
